Tex_77 yes I did. It’s what I had on hand. Just got a hog butchered. Just had them grind it instead of making sausage. So I mixed 50 50 with some of my ground beef. It made excellent burgers.

ND Mike fine looking helper you’ve got there. Good looking burgers also. I had to fly solo on 15lbs with better burger seasoning. 20220528_150945.jpg

cdavis How do you like that burger press? I have two of them from years ago & they worked good & definitely consistent. But, I guess I got lazy & just went back to hand forming them as it seemed faster with less cleanup. The press made for more consistency, granted & less handling, by far. I like the idea you have of storing them in the freezer in a container, rather than a bag. That is a great & organized (neat) idea. I have been lazy on that too. Par freezing them, then just throwing them into a freezer bag & sucking the air out. Yours looks much better.

cdavis That’s also a great way of stretching the beef purchase.

calldoctoday it’s a great press and easy to clean but the best part is my kids love making burgers with it. One will form the balls the other runs the press then after so many they trade off. All I have to do is bag and vac seal. Sometimes I get behind.

cdavis Absolutely. It’s really neat when you don’t tell them what you did different and they say: this is really good and different. Then, I tell them and their jaws drop. Keep having fun fooling people.

Passing things on to the next generation is very important. Children need to know where food comes from and the process it takes. I try to include mine in all parts of the process. They may never use it but at least they know how.
