Okay, so, looks like I’m gonna have to get involved in this post a little. We’ve got blueberries, strawberries, zucchini, basil, carrots, sugar snap peas, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, bell peppers, and maybe a few other things I’ve forgotten.Shout out to Brett Walton for letting me use his tiller!
Jonathon You need to get horse watering troughs for planters above ground. No bending over, they retain water and heat, hardly have to weed. I am converting most of my raised beds to these. All I have to do is weed wack or spray around them.
By the way this was last summer, no planting until next week when the frost danger should be done here. -

I have been thinking of some ideas for that for several years to convert from the normal beds/row. I was going to use Hog pen or coral panels with chicken wire & straw. Have some trees I could cut to initially fill the bottoms. Might help keep the chickens & critters out too & definitely the bending & weeding, especially since we still hand fork. Just have not gotten around to it yet. Yours look absolutely great though.

GWG8541 The Rubbermaid’s have a threaded drain built in. I put landscape fabric in the bottom to cover the drain port, then added 4 inches of pea gravel, then another layer of landscape fabric, then the soil, and compost on top of that. They sat out all winter here in the NW and have never filled with water. I keep the cap on the drain slightly cracked.

. I bet you can’t wait to get them in the ground. Good luck. I got pretty much all of mine planted. Just ready for the rest of it to come up. 
cdavis Nice garden. You’re way ahead of me. Did plant parsnips and carrots but still too cold for anything else.

Folks, I need some gopher-proof raised bed idea help. So far johnsbrewhouse horse trough looks great, any other ideas?
Gophers invaded my yard and totally destroyed it, went from nice grass to the surface of the moon. They ate all the roots and chewed all my irrigation lines, which have to work here un AZ. I had to turn off yard sprinklers and rerun all drip lines aboveground due to daily chew-leaks. I tried traps and kill stake traps, didn’t work. Just paid a guy $700 to come for 4 days and run carbon monoxide into their mounds, over 150 new or old mounds now. I think that worked. But I can’t plant in the ground anymore, so need ideas on easy good gopher proof raised planters. Thx!

Gopher proof raised beds? Raised bed with a lot of stone and concrete. They, as you know will tunnel everything. I’m building new raised beds now. Can someone tell me how to post a picture?

scottfletcher Nice job with the cedar. I would have done wood as well, but the yard rats (moles) will tunnel under anything with an open bottom as well as a closed bottom. They don’t seem to like the plastic or the new traps.
