What books and podcasts are you reading/listening/watching?
-
Well I have been listening to podcast for a couple of years now, and have just started listening to audio books, so I’m curious what is everyone reading/listening to or watching?
I’ll leave you with some of favorite podcasts and some of the books I’ve really liked.

I want preface this Podcast by saying if you have not watched the Band of Brothers miniseries, you need to do so before listening to this, which is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the series. I thought it was an incredible podcast, and good luck keeping a dry eye listening to it.American History Tellers by Wondry

Latest Audiobooks:
With the Old Breed by E. B. Sledge if you have seen the HBO miniseries the Pacific this one of the two books it was based off of. I just finished it and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a first hand account of a Marine in the Pacific theater.
Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie This is the other book that Pacific is based on, and Robert Leckie tells his story as a Marine in the Pacific.
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey some good stories and life lessons in this book.
The next book im excited to listen to when it comes out in a couple weeks is “Fierce Valor: The True Story of Ronald Speirs and his Band of Brothers”
Tex_77 what a great list to reference, I will definitely check out some of those podcasts. I don’t do too many “podcast”, not 100% sure I know the current definition of that these days lol. But I do subscribe to quite a few YouTube creators, which are like the Meatgistics podcasts.
So, I watch Mike Glover’s YouTube. Also Warrior Poet Society, which he is sometimes on.
Corporals Corner YouTube has neat survival camping vids.
And a ton of cooking ones.
Meatgistics is the most recent podcast for me, and I do like their format and relaxed personalities, very enjoyable.
But I will check out some of your list now! -
Rogan…only Rogan.
lol I do really listen to Rogan daily, on any commute. I also like the Bear Grease Podcase.
I’ll check in with Krystal and Sagaar on youtube from time to time as well. Haven’t spent much time on the books/audio books, as of late.
RedHills Rancher podcast from time to time and my cousin does one on events in our local town that I usually get caught up on.

RafterW having a daily commute is the main reason I podcast/audio books. I have listened to several Rogan podcasts, they are great. #1 Podcast in the land.
-
I try to listen to all of his guests and not pick and chose those of interest to me…broadening my horizons, as they say.

Tex_77 I down load audiobooks onto my I-Pod and listen to them when I drive on long trips, really helps to pass the time. Nothing specific, just what I can find at my local library sale by authors that I like.
-
I like The Meat Block podcast and sometimes Food Safety University podcast.

RafterW I started listening to him recently, the Bill Maher episode is when I started actually listening to the podcast opposed to random youtube clips.
Cooking is so visual I prefer to watch that type of stuff on tv and youtube.
The Podcasts I listen to are: Lone Star Outdoor Show, The Justified Pursuit, and You Betcha Guys. I also sprinkle in a some true crime ones.

Tex_77 Wow, that is a long list!
I am almost disappointed though, I don’t see a K-State sports podcast on that list… I thought you were a K-State fan…I listen to The Powercat Podcast religiously. I think that is the best K-State sports podcast out there.
Strangely, I do listen to the Meatgistics Podcast, even though I’m usually on it. Even when I’m on it, listening back to it again helps here it as a listener to try to keep improving on things.
Sports Podcasts:
The Powercat Podcast - hands down best for keeping up with K-State Wildcats sports
The Ranger Report Podcast - a friend of mine does this podcast (I also sponsor it) and they are good to listen to for a baseball fix
Heartland College Sports - favorite way to keep up on happenings inside the Big12
Locked On Big 12 - not as good as Pete Mundo’s podcast above, but still goodOther Podcasts
The Flush Podcast - Hunting stories and Travis is great to listen to, or watch on his TV shows
The Wilkow Majority - favorite news and opinion show
The Ben Shapiro ShowI don’t have any books to list. I really don’t read books, but probably ought to. I read a lot, but books are too long. My attention span doesn’t last much over 20 minutes. So I’ll be intrigued to see what else other people recommend for books here.

Austin if KSU wasn’t so terrible I might listen to something about them.

Tex_77 We’ve been on a bad luck streak lately, but things are gearing up for 2022-2023 sports to be pretty darn good. Football should be good next year. Men and Women’s basketball is really promising for a fun season next year!
-
Well sometimes I’ll get a hardcopy of a book too, this showed up today.

-
Tex_77 How is that book?

Started reading articles and podcasts from these guys.
“Good Faith is a podcast from The Dispatch. Join hosts David French and Curtis Chang for an engaging discussion of faith and its intersection with politics, culture, and law.”
-
Here is one more to add From a K State Grad Student that has moved on into the industry.
https://www.meatspad.com/Cabelas90 I’ve listened to that one as well, it is pretty good.
-
I just finished “Fierce Valor: The True Story of Ronald Speirs and his Band of Brothers” it’s pretty good. I would definitely recommend reading Band of Brothers and watching the mini series before reading this book.
-
Tex_77 Better late than never but 2 I really like are
Hardcore History by Dan Carlin
TimCast IRL byt Time Pool
Danger Close one is an awesome podcast! -
Austin Jonathon so I got a State of Kansas Library card, which now allows me to read free eBooks/Audiobooks so goodbye Audible. It was really easy to get, I just had to go to my local library to get signed up.
For everyone not in Kansas I would check with your State library to see if they have a similar program.
