Many years back, I was lucky enough to briefly meet some Ukrainian Police Officers visiting the US. At the time I was our Academy Commander and got to spend a day with them and the translators. So knowing that most Cops love firearms, I took them on our range for a half a day and we had a blast. (Pun intended). So as I watch on TV what is unfolding in their homeland, I am sad and POed for them. War has come to their front door. Besides the gift of free ammo that day, I gave them challenge coins and patches. I got some really cool gifts in return. One of my favorite is down to under a half a bottle. I believe the translation on the bottle was Presidential Vodka. Tonight I will have a shot and pray they are all OK and pray that they survive this invasion. If you believe in prayer, please say one for the people if Ukraine and Russia. There are families that are living on both sides of the border. My heart goes out to them.

GWG8541 I was hoping that he would come to his senses and back off, but watching the news shows how crazy he is, I will be praying for all the people of Ukraine. I have a couple of the challenge coins from when I worked in a defense plant for electronics for military aircraft, had many offers for them from other people in the plant but they are truly treasured.

Being retired law enforcement myself, I totally understand your POST. Your POST caused me to go downstairs into my ‘Cave’ and take a look at the display I made for all the Challenge Coins I collected over the years. For I long time I just held these ‘memories’ in a dresser drawer but always seemed to be getting in to them…

I decided a few years back that I wanted them out where I could SEE them and share them with friends, so I (again) designed my own Display… it was a little bit of ‘fine’ work, but I like how it turned out. I have it hanging from the ceiling now. My boys I hope fight over it when I’m gone… 🙂

So, if you haven’t already, do yourself a huge favor and pull all those coins & trinkets out and display them proudly… the memories are worth the effort.

Thanks to you all for serving our country and other countries as well. People that kneel to our flag don’t understand how (fortune)ate they are. I appreciate everyone that has served our country to protect all amendments, but especially the 1st and 2nd

Retired157 that is an awesome way to display them. I really like the addition of the cuffs.

Great display, I still have a set of cuffs from my years in corrections and several coins collected over the years. May try to incorporate them in a display. Thanks for your service.

Nice display, Retired 157, I only have a very few challenge coins in my draw but that gives me pause of what to do with them.

Retired Detective Sgt here currently working as a contractor for the U.S. Marshals. I never collected them but have always made sure that I gave the ones gifted to me to someone who has. I have had the opportunity to meet many police officers from many other countries as well. None from the Ukraine but many others. Praying for the Ukraine and the PO’s that you know.

KenfromMI glad you made it out brother. I retired over 4 years ago. Im working in the private sector now. Man did it change in the last 4 years. The Ukrainian cops were brought over by the State Department. Unfortunately their rolls have now changed. The reality is the Russian military can take the country without outside intervention. It will come at a high price in human life for both sides. So I fear for those Officers that I shared a few days with. This whole thing is ugly and will get uglier.

calldoctoday yeah, I’ve been yelling at my television alot lately. It is in times of crisis when you see true leadership and lack thereof. Anyone can act like a leader when times are easy and the seas are calm. Its the one who is willing to take the helm during the middle of the storm who is a true leader.

I have it hanging from the ceiling now. My boys I hope fight over it when I’m gone… 🙂

So, if you haven’t already, do yourself a huge favor and pull all those coins & trinkets out and display them proudly… the memories are worth the effort.
