PapaSop Yes, good cartoon and it makes sense to me! As for the downsizing yes, it is working on images under the file max but past the width max, it doesn’t seem to be working on files that are over the max. I am looking at some different plug ins but most likely this is going to have to wait.
Rachel is looking into highlighting the # if the user has already upvoted that post. Jamieson22 We will try the highlight 1st because we have done that custom already, if we figure that aspect out we can look at different ways to identify it.

I’m using a medium resolution setting on my phone camera. No issues. -
Tex_77 1st, dont be ridiculous, Brutus is a 186 lb killing machine, who hides from loud noises like trucks, pots dropping and is also afraid of sewers and for sale signs. Riggins was a fighting dog before we got him so he deserves to be soft if he wants now!
Okay, Rachel has the upvote button disappearing when you have already clicked it, we toyed with it being highlighted in yellow but it didn’t look very good, so disappears when you upvote, then if you downvote it by mistake or something the upvote reappears and the downvote disappears. So, anyone see any questions on this in the next few weeks/months be sure to let them know what it means.

PapaSop Yeah, that seems to be the best way to do it but there should be a way for the site to autoscale down the quality/size until it will meet the size requirements. We are looking at a new plug-in for this.

Jonathon Where’s the Ceegar?

Jonathon Well, at first my head was swooning as I thought it all worked fine to start with. Typical me. However, I tested it & it makes sense & I can see how it could be very helpful vs having to skim the mouse over the number to see if you hit it or not already. Great job & good work!

Like the disappearing thumb feature. Kudos to Jamieson22 for the suggestion and Rachel for getting it done… Now, who’s Rachel? Introduce yourself.

It is behaving a little oddly. Your post had 4 upvotes and I upvoted to make it 5. Then clicked downvote to “undo” it and it went to 3. But if I Hover on the 3 it shows 4 names. If I then upvote again it jumps from 3 to 5 and shows 5 names on hover.

Yep, see the same thing. -

Jamieson22 Well then, seeing that I do still just like the old thumb to toggle it up or none & down for down only. Hovering to check to make sure I did not do it twice or worse.

OK, I think it is working right now. Must have needed a little time for system to completely click in.

I am wondering if part of the inconsistency that different folks experience when uploading pictures might have to do with their camera pixel resolution setting? Newer phones can take some very high resolution pictures with accompanying huge file sizes.
If you reset the photo resolution setting of your phone camera to something smaller, perhaps Meatgistics can deal with the photos without all the weird results? -

Jonathon Nice mod with the thumbing thingy! I have a mod on my website that I manage for “Auto Rotate and Resize” that has worked wonders for me. Maybe your site has something like it too?

processhead That is absolutely part of it, some images I take on my phone at 8MB but NodeBB has a setting to auto downgrade the size/quality of the image to lower the file size. We just can’t seem to get it working at the moment. We are going to explore more options and a plug-in that might work. @Rgros is our Web coordinator, she is eventually going to be responsible for the waltons.com, currently, she is helping Austin and I get things set up and then we will turn it over to her. I don’t know how much she will be on Meatgistics other than to fix things and install new things for us but she is way better at all that stuff than I am already!

Jonathon I like the new thumbs up/down change and appreciate the upgrades/changes the Walton’s team is making.

It is still wonky. Like this post and see it go 0 > 1. Then Dislike and it jumps to -1.

I’m close to making the images a little better, it wont be perfect but it will be at least better. Ive got it sort of working on the dev site and hopefully we can get it working on the live site as well. It’s still got the hard cap at a certain point but by increasing that and rescaling them automatically we are able to post larger images. When we finally get it all done I will share with you.

Jonathon Darn it. I hit the UP thumb and it disappeared. Yep, wonky is a good word.

I think that is expected behavior. No Thumbs-Up means you pressed it. Where it gets wonky is if you click Thumbs-down to “undo” your upvote as it seems to subtract 2 from the count, not 1.
