I had a big house and a 52x50 shop but sold that house. I retrospect I needed it for all my “projects” LOL!

I need a bigger garage for all of my outdoor stuff. When I do build one it will be incorporated with an outdoor kitchen/processing/smoking work area with hot and cold water.

bocephus Don’t let your wife get into quilting and embroidery, mine has taken over the entire basement (1600 sq. ft.) for her play area and then she sneak stuff into my shop when I am gone. I just stick it back in the garage behind her car, she gets the message and I get the look.

johnsbrewhouse I don’t have to worry about that, her hobby is baking which isn’t too bad of a hobby to have but I have to tell her to take her items to work to get them out of the house or I end up eating it all.

bocephus That’s the same story in our home. The wife likes to bake and when she does it’s 2 or 3 things. Usually a pie/cake, cookies and a fruit bread of some sorts; i.e. cranberry & walnut. I’ll have a taste of each and then tell her to get them the heck out of here. It’s especially hard around the Holidays.

ND Mike I have been helping Margaret’s washer along for months trying to get more out of it. New bearings & shaft even, trying to save for some things. They only make junk it seems in the washing machine business these days. Our first we kept for over 15 years & I sold them while they still looked brand new & worked perfectly. The folks that bought them even thought I sold them too cheap, now that is cheap! I did all that to buy her a new set when moving into a new house I had built, thought I was buying what they said was the best. That was about 30 years ago & it has been nothing but junk in those recent 30 & let me think, 4 more sets or partial sets? some only lasted about 5 years. Others about 10 maybe, with lots of trouble. This set we have had now for about 10 & lots of problems. Even the metal they put in them is junk any more. It is very sad.

calldoctoday We bought a Maytag front loader that was that way, it ended up smelling so bad no matter what we did, cleaned it, took it apart, nothing helped. Gave it to the kids and bought a Samsung without an agitator all S/S inside and has a D/C motor, been one of the best washer we have had so far. Only thing that had to be done was a recall because of a problem with it spinning apart with heavy loads (overloaded).

johnsbrewhouse How long have you had it? My oldest son & his wife have one of those & they like it a lot, but have not had for too long. Our first real good wone was a Kenmore, plain & simple Kenmore We heard it was actually a Roper. The real good one I thought I was buying Margaret was a Maytag, always grew up understanding they were the best. It was junk. Then I think we tried a Whirlpool & a Roper. The one we have now is one of the fancy Kenmore’s. Junk still. I have thought about the Speed Queen, but they are small & pricey. You get vastly different opinions on them that I sometimes wonder if are political so to say. A friend of mines brother finally broke down & bought one a few years ago so I am trying to keep up with his ongoing opinion on them. Appliances just are not made like they used to be, much fancier, much more expensive, nicer more automated features & more of them, use less water, some don’t clean as well, but definitely do not last as long.

It is very sad.

calldoctoday it really is sad. We have been lucky. The set we have now is over 17 years and we have only fixed some small things.
