Tennessee man with meat smoker feeds people after Kentucky Tornado

GWG8541 our little town was up and running pretty quick and had a lot of help from neighbors and friends, other towns and counties. The first 36 hours after were pretty stressful. But things got back to some sense of normal pretty quickly.
JohnG5 my house only lost power for a couple of days and my water was on the entire time. My parents and brother were out of electricity for about a week and water was off for several days. Thinking back on it, the power crew that restored my parents electricity was ironically from Kentucky.
There were 27 tornados that hit our area on the 27th of May, 2019. The worst was an EF4. These pics were a few miles from my house the following morning while heading over to check on my parents. Our local weather stations did a good job of warning people. My family was in bed, but I stayed up to watch the late news since we were expecting bad weather. It was one of the few times I made the family get to the basement. There was also a lot of damage in the city where RON PARRISH works.

GWG8541 I sure am glad you all made it through that. Those can be terrible & each one has its own personality as I have met with folks that have had their buildings destroyed over the years from coast to coast.

GWG8541 Yes our plant was without power for 6 days. It took the roof off of our storage building but a little 14 ft john boat on a trailer right beside it never moved

Makes our snow storms and below zero weather seem pretty tame up here in wi and I am thankful for that. It must be horrible to live through the devastation of a tornado.

JohnG5 brother I’m glad your still with us. The aerial photo with the building untouched in the background is amazing. I hope you all are doing OK today with those 90 mph winds in Kansas. My nephew lives near Salina said they had 98 MPH straight wind today. Unbelievable

RON PARRISH JohnG5 just watching the local news from the Kentucky tornados. The biggest being an EF4 with a mile wide path that traveled 128 miles long. The photos of Mayfield are heartbreaking. The downtown area is destroyed. Ron, it reminds me of the 1974 Xenia, Ohio F5 that hit. I can remember driving by in the aftermath of that with my dad to check out a friend’s neighborhood. It was literally gone. I was 10 when it hit and never forgot those images. Stuff can be replaced, but the loss of life in Kentucky is sad to say the least.

GWG8541 I lived in Trenton at that time but made that same drive with my dad. Those images do stick with you. Cant imagine actually going thru it.
