After losing about all of my possessions in a tornado that destroyed my home in July 2016, it took a lot of help from family and neighbors to get back on my feet. I remember the town was basically closed down. I could not get to my home and eventually drove a half hour to the nearest town just to get a cheeseburger from McDonalds and some clean clothes from Walmart. The victims of these natural disasters are in shock, not sure what their next move is, and are processing the loss of loved ones, their homes, and possessions. The last thing they need to worry about is where to get a good meal. Kudos to this man for his kind actions.

The biggest being an EF4 with a mile wide path that traveled 128 miles long. The photos of Mayfield are heartbreaking. The downtown area is destroyed. Ron, it reminds me of the 1974 Xenia, Ohio F5 that hit. I can remember driving by in the aftermath of that with my dad to check out a friend’s neighborhood. It was literally gone. I was 10 when it hit and never forgot those images. Stuff can be replaced, but the loss of life in Kentucky is sad to say the least.

My parents and brother were out of electricity for about a week and water was off for several days. Thinking back on it, the power crew that restored my parents electricity was ironically from Kentucky.
There were 27 tornados that hit our area on the 27th of May, 2019. The worst was an EF4. These pics were a few miles from my house the following morning while heading over to check on my parents. Our local weather stations did a good job of warning people. My family was in bed, but I stayed up to watch the late news since we were expecting bad weather. It was one of the few times I made the family get to the basement. There was also a lot of damage in the city where RON PARRISH works.
Our town was hit by tornados in 2019. We were lucky and just had bad hail damage and lost several trees, new roof and siding. When I drove to check on my parents I was shocked at how one house would be slightly damaged and one beside it would be leveled. Ours hit about 1100 pm and there were multiple tornadoes in the region. We only had 1 death from that string of storms, although the destruction was wide spread. The generosity of the people from our state and town was amazing, but the folks coming to help from other states was humbling. Since you have lived through it, you know how devastating this can be first hand. You do not forget how powerful Mother Nature can be when you witness it first hand. You also realize how vulnerable we are as humans. Im not sure everyone understands the infrastructure damage that occurs, such as no water or electricity for weeks. With winter bearing down on these poor folks, especially in Kentucky, it breaks my heart watching the videos. God bless the man in this article. Right now those folks just need the basics and he has delivered.
