Fun evening last night with deer up close and culminating with a nice big doe coming in for a shot to let me fill my antler-less bonus tag. This little buck came in and hung around my stand for a bout 5 minutes while I snapped some pictures.
The doe ran about 70 yards and painted a colorful trail that even this color blind old guy could follow. Went back this morning and even found my arrow she had run off with before going down.
Apologies to anyone who finds this a bit graphic.

processhead You are way out of my league then. Just the fact that you got the written part in there from a mobile phone is amazing to me. We will be on the lookout for it tomorrow hopefully.

Gotta brag on my 12 year old son. Got his first bowkill ever this morning. He did it by himself cause I was hunting another property. He’s been hunting this buck since October 1st. He passed on alot of smaller bucks waiting for this guy and it paid off. I’m so proud of him to finally show that patience. He did shoot him a little too far back but he only went about 100 yards. I really enjoyed teaching him and my daughter how to follow a blood trail. It was a great day. 20211114_075158.jpg 20211114_081711.jpg

You gotta be proud. It is tough to pass up an opportunity because it is not the one you want. I think it is easier as we get older to make that decision but for a kid I can still remember that feeling. Great to see his success.

HerbcoFood Just got back from up north, looks like ducks and geese are starting to come south. Need a little colder weather in Nebraska to push them out of there.

Wisconsin’s gun deer opens tomorrow morning. Per usual we’re geared to go. Made my usual Friday stop at the old people’s place (aka my parents). Mom always makes cookies for us on opening day. That said, a little surprise today. Aside from the usual chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies , was another surprise. Homemade bread. This has been awhile. Thanks mom! Saved a trip to the store.

At 85 years young she still gets it done. I can only wish…

Even though it is still deer season here…I have ice fishing on the brain. I always get itchy once I start to see skim ice forming! I couldn’t pass this deal up on Facebook marketplace. Eskimo 3i popup tent, buddy heater, and an 8 inch Eskimo hand auger all used 1 time for $225.00! He paid $227 just for the 3i last year. I got another steal of a deal. Thus worked out perfect as I was looking for a smaller set up if it’s just me or me and one other. I looked at everything at it is all in literally new condition!!!
