Interesting day at work!

ND Mike Great job & congratulations to you. I got to pull a tooth for someone once, but never delivered a baby (other than helping my wife & that does not count relative to what you have done). That is amazing.
calldoctoday being there for all three of my kids births was actually very helpful!

Today was one of those very interesting days. It rained most of the day and I didn’t do a lot. Then with an hour left of shift a lady was in labor less than a mile from me. To make a long story short…I got to delivery a baby today! A healthy baby boy. It makes all those really bad calls worth it! Got my stork pin!!!
ND Mike I know how it happens. I know the science behind the whole process. But, I’m still in awe to be there when it happens. But, being the person performing the delivery just HAD TO BE AWESOME. Yay for you.

zbigjeff it happened so fast I didn’t even have time to think. It was later that night when all the what ifs hit me! I’m just so happy it turned out the way it did. It was pretty cool too though!

ND Mike I have to know did you make the local news or at least the news paper.
-
cdavis no I didn’t even post anything on Facebook. It did make our monthly newsletter that the Highway Patrol puts out.

ND Mike it’s a shame when good news like that doesn’t even make the papers.

cdavis I agree but it’s ok. I was an offensive lineman in college. I’m used to just plugging away and doing my job without needing the accolades…lol! It is a trait of OLineman. But I do appreciate the kudos I have gotten here for it.

ND Mike I know you’re not looking for recognition. But I for one want to see more news like this instead of all negative things. I have almost stopped watching the news because it just makes me mad. I love hearing stories like yours. I’m sure the rest of America does too.

I agree. I think the problem is that there is so much “Good News” that the bad always takes precedent. Unfortunate.
ND Mike Well done, it’s what we do! No headlines needed.

WoW! That is awesome ND Mike. I cannot 100% relate, because it was not part of my job, but I did deliver my daughter and cut the umbilical cord… but all of that was with my buddy (the OBGyn) over my shoulder guiding my every move and making sure there was no complications. I found the experience thrilling but my wife had other ideas for the birth of our last child. She needed to have me by her side so she could squeeze my hand and make me feel some of the pains of delivery.

Dr_Pain thanks! Yeah it was cool. Thank God it happened so fast I didn’t have time to think about what I was doing. I’m glad I was there for the delivery of my 3 kids!

ND Mike Same here, do the dirty work and the running back and quarterback get all the glory. It is ok, still friends with some of the o-lineman, no idea where the running backs and quarterbacks are now.
