johnsbrewhouse Well, your test again proves that smoking coffee beans is a negative adventure. Yep, now we move onto other pieces of nature. Thanks for validating that process once again.

zbigjeff Just going to run the one last experiment by roasting the beans on the smoker completely, Going to wait to do this, since it will rely on me tending to the beans instead of the roaster.

I made ‘potsticker’ brats this morning…all the goods you might find in a potsticker stuffed into a casing.

I used pork, cabbage, green onion, red onion, carrots, ginger, garlic, crushed red pepper, sesame sees, mushroom soy sauce and Chinese five spice.

I ran the pork through the grinder once before adding all of the produce and dry ingredients and running a second time followed by an addition of water and soy.

The mix works well as stand alone brat or removed from the casing and used as a pot sticker filling.

The smoked coffee experiment two didn’t work out either. Little to no smoke flavor in the coffee. I can barely pick it out, coffee is such an assertive flavor it easily overpowers the smoke since it is roasted as well. The next experiment with smoking coffee may be roasting the coffee on the smoker. It will require a whole lot more attention for that process as anyone who roasts their own coffee knows. I use a fluid bed roaster here at home, so it’s basically pour the coffee in the roaster, set what roasting time I want and push the button and just keep an on it it near the end for my color. Open roasting over a heat source is a whole lot different story, got to keep things moving, listen to the product and watch for the color, then move it off the heat and cool as fast as possible when done.

Ah man. Seemed like it may have had potential to be good. Thanks for the experiment.

I must say you guys have peaked my interest in roasting my own beans. Going to do some research and see what all is involved.

YooperDog lkrfletcher keto is a life change, once you do it you can never go back and expect to stay with the weight loss. You may be able to cheat a little more but really once you make the change you don’t really miss and crave the old foods anymore. Not eating and drinking the carbs, sugars and portion control is the key. It was very successful for me, notice how I said “was”. Yes I need to do it again and stay on it. It’s hard since neither my wife or I enjoy to cook. As well as heat up the house in the summer time such as now. 90* we don’t feel like doing nothing.

twilliams thanks. We do have a Papa Murphy’s, but about an hour away. We have been implementing changes slowly. Many of the things I really didn’t eat much at all. But it is sort of like lent, it’s when you can’t have something that you want it.

depending on what type of grill and smoker you have at your disposal you might want to roast them on the grill with smoke for enough temp to roast them Mabey in a vegetable basket with a screen then you just need to shake it occasionally till done

Surg Go to Burmans Coffee Traders, they are a pretty good source of information and product. I get my Kona beans direct from Hawaii from a person I have been dealing with for a number of years. he rest I usually get from Burmans. Good people.

craigrice I have a Traeger, I’ll pan smoke them. It’s just a matter of keeping them moving depending on the batch size. You just have to watch them when they start to hit temp because they change quick within a matter of minutes from light to dark roast which affects flavor profiles.

YooperDog 370-500 degrees. The Treager is capable of hitting that especially if you take the heat defuser out from under the tray. You can get direct heat right above the pellet bowl that’s super heated. It’s like when the pellets overload the bowl and light off.
