JoeB One of my favorite old sitcoms. I read a long while back the he and the Labeau characters were both in POW/internment camps and I think Labeau was/is the last one living.

Threw a whole brisket in the smoker today while working on the tractor. I cubed up the point for burnt ends. The flat was great, but the burnt ends were meat candy. I hit it hard with cracked black pepper and garlic. Tasty with a little kick.20210416_212807.jpg 20210416_212851.jpg20210416_231852.jpg
Finished burnt ends with my homemade sauce.

JoeB wdaly the challenge after living & eating in a country is trying to find the right seasonings back in the States to recreate some of meals. It is a great find when I go to a big city that have unique marketโ€™s that carry the ingredients. Great looking bulgogi JoeB

30lbs of Beef bulgogi: literally โ€œfire meatโ€, a gui made of thin, marinated slices of beef and veggies. A few lbs will end up on my griddle today. The rest will be frozen in 4lb packs.

JoeB that looks awesome. I had Bulgogi for the first time about 37 years ago in Korea and have been hooked ever since. Top it off with some kimchi and and OB Lager or some Soju and it is great meal. I even learned to use chop sticks eating Bulgogi.

JoeB wdaly I was also in Korea in 1984 for Team Spirit. We unfortunately lost Marines in a helo crash during that exercise. We were camped in Pohang most of the time with some great libo in Seoul. I definitely fell in love with the cuisine, except for some fried grass hoppers at a bar one night. Good old OB and Soju washed it down just fine, but that was the last grasshopper for me. Ill stick with Bulgogi and Kimchi. Korea was one of the best places the Corps sent me. Ah, the life of a young Marine.

JoeB I think your description of Soju is dead on. I am sure I destroyed a few brain cells drinking that stuff. zbigjeff the best description I can give Soju is a Korean version of vodka. We trained alot with the Korean Marines and they liked giving out shots of Soju.

Soju is a fermented sweet potato wine, favored at times (grapefruit, maple, and others), otherwise clear and sort of like watered down vodka (sold at 14%)

alanburkholder Interesting. Much of what I drank was bootleg fm the Vill. . Way, way more than 38 proof. Itโ€™s like moonshine vs 80 proof whiskey. Have you had Soju? Iโ€™ve had moonshine and soju. Certainly not wiser for it๐Ÿ˜Š
