My Appeal to Walton
-
I am new here. Right now I am lost. Last week I made 60 pounds of assorted sausage. Still looking for good recipe for summer sausage.
caterjay Since none of the Team-Blue members have offered this up, I’ll post this. It’s Jonathon making Summer Sausage. I used it and I loved it! My seasoning blend was the H Summer Sausage Blend. Oh and switch sides. Orange is greater than blue.

zbigjeff lol nice one! caterjay https://meatgistics.waltonsinc.com/topic/762/cured-sausage-107-basics-for-making-summer-sausage and https://meatgistics.waltonsinc.com/topic/1108/cured-sausage-206-advanced-cured-sausage-processing are two good summer sausage how to.
badfire2625 That’s so obviously untrue that it doesn’t deserve a response…wait a minute

Austin I should have thought this out more fully when I encouraged you to post that…It very well might be the most upvoted single response for Meatgistics and I NEED to have everything! Get ready for an emotionally manipulative post coming from me some time soon so I can take that back! Just kidding, and Im not calling your post manipulative! I only occasionally post thing on Instagram, other than that I have nothing to do with Social Media, interesting idea that meatgistics is a replacement for me. I hadn’t considered that. PapaSop did you notice he used community and not the other word? Midwest_kc I don’t think we will ever get rid of youtube but we might eventually not make it a focus. Everything we do will still find its way there though for the foreseeable future. We have 30k subs on youtube and about 14k meatgistics users though. THe meatgistics is growing much faster than youtube and our Meatgistics users are a lot more prized by us than the youtube subs!
Jonathon
I did notice that. It’s only right. This is a “community”. -
caterjay I love the community and the banter here. It’s nothing like Republicans and Democrats. This is all in good fun. I’ve not seen one bad egg in this whole community. Hopefully my joking is seen as it is intended. Just harmless fun.

badfire2625 This is a great group and everyone likes to have fun with each other, all in good fun. ( Orange Rules Though)

Love the fun, camaraderie, & of course the eaten, uh cookin. Especially the Blue dishes!

I want to point out something pretty awesome (at least in my mind) that happened. We now have more Meatgistics Users than we have Instagram or Twitter followers! Still down to the FBs but I will tell you this. 1 Meatgistics member is worth a whole lot more to me/us than a social media follower, so thanks guys!

So I went back and re-read this whole thread. I started on a few occasions to post a serious reply only to be side-tracked by my little kid side wanting to pick on Team-Blue because you know… SQUIRREL! As someone who once ran a business, I agree 100% with the decision to keep @Walton-s social media pages alive to the extent that they benefit the company. I’d have to venture a guess that a large percentage of Team-Orange, Team-Grey and Team-Blue found this community via some form of social. When I had my photo studio, I begrudgingly added to my Social Media to promote my business. Thankfully, I never gave any of them any money, but I was able to stay connected with potential customers. I’m glad you are all doing whatever it takes to keep Meatgistics alive, well and growing. Austin, Jonathon, @The-Fridge-Raider and the rest of those of you who keep this train rollin’ THANK YOU! I get here in little cycles because of my job and family life. When I do, I always learn something and get some entertainment. What I don’t do is leave angry or frustrated. No one here except Jon tells me I’m wrong…
But seriously, everyone here is great and I hope the social media funnel keeps bringing many more fine people who share our passion. -

Knowing that “social media” is now a broad term. The only format I used prior to this was LinkedIn and viewed YouTube videos. I found Waltons at the recommendation of a friend that owns a meat house (slaughter house, not retail). I had asked them advice on where to buy seasonings, cure, additives, etc… They recommended Walton’s. So after going to Walton’s site, I discovered Meatjistics and all of you wonderful people. I have not and never will have interest in Twitter or Facebook (maybe Marketplace)and even more so now that they have become political. Thats why I like this platform. Sure we all have something in common, and my guess is there are a mix of political beliefs on here. The thing is, unlike those other platforms I mentioned, you would never know it. And if it would go that route or supported that behavior, I definitely wouldn’t want to be part of that group. I know, I’m a Dinosaur.

GWG8541 No you aren’t a dinosaur. I think that moving away from social media is more of a trend than you would think. However, there are those out there who haven’t found Walton’s or Meatgistics yet and the social media funnel is a real thing. This community acts like a civilized society of carnivores should. Those that use social can interact with those that don’t and we all treat each other with respect. In fact, I wouldn’t call Meatgistics a form of Social Media at all. That is almost as bad as calling it a foru… I can’t say it but you know what I mean. I see it as more of the coolest bar in town where like minded people come to talk, joke and talk some more.
I agree with Jon and Austin that continuing to build this community of [insert whatever Jonathon is gonna call us here] will benefit everyone. And much the same as businesses use social to funnel potential customers through the doors, Meatgistics can do the same to funnel new members into the community. Honestly, I wouldn’t be on any of those platforms if is wasn’t for my crazy work schedule which creates a lack of contact with my Mother and Sister. Well, that and my daughter is growing up… I can’t see anyone putting up with political bullying on here.

badfire2625 First of all, when are you coming to Team Blue???. Spend as much time as you can with the family. I lost both Mom and Dad last year. 2020 was a tough one. Neither from COVID. I miss them more than I thought I ever would. Family first brother.

Meatgistics has become my social media. I very rarely go on FB anymore. I hate all the negativity on there. I like coming here because I can escape from that. Here, people help each other out and we all have some similar hobbies and likes. I really look forward to the podcasts and the livestreams. I am so glad I found this place!

And oh yeah…Waltons is awesome!

@ndmike I mostly visit FB for the cooking, bourbon and ethnic sites I belong to (ethnic Slovenian cooking, Italian, General and 2 sausage sites and a site I take of for a group that I’ve been on the board for over 30 years-Slovenianhome.com). I’ve had it with all the crazies out there on the general FB page and all of the censoring. But, the specific sites I visit stay totally away from any of that nonsense. On this site, there’s a bunch of good old fashioned healthy jabbing and some very good thoughts on how to make my schtuff tantalize the taste buds.

I just do not particularly care for social media & never have for the most part. However, there is nothing to not like about Walton’s, Meatgistics, & the Neighborhood, it is simply amazing as far as I am concerned. However, I never really considered Walton’s Meatgistics Neighborhood, social media somehow. It is more about learning & seeing amazing things done! Lots of learning the right stuff at the right price.
