YooperDog I’ve owned several early 70’s Ford 150’s and 250’s…loved them. Most were bought for around $500. I just picked up a 92’ 250 with a 460 for $500! I’ve made a few hauls to the landfill in the meantime so IMO it’s already paid for itself. It’s still running on the same tank of gas the previous owner provided but as few miles as I’ve put on this rig it’s obvious that it has a drinking problem. That said, anytime I leave the mechanic with a bill for $500 I feel like I dodged a bullet. For that money I’d say fix the things that need fixed anyway and roll the dice that it solves your problem.

@s-a-m None, the mechanic said he checked wheel bearing and there is no problem with that. We replaced a stuck brake caliper a few months ago but that wasn’t it. He said it still needs the master cylinder replaced. It is happening now occasionally when I am driving straight but it seems to stop when I accelerate or brake so I am wondering if it isn’t something that has come loose and is just flapping. I tried to get my wife to agree to let me drive over here so she could check but in her typical selfish fashion she said no!

If your truck is a 4x4, have you checked the U-joints?

Been reading through this post for awhile now and finally have the definitive answer…

              GET RID OF IT!

I’ll talk to Austin about a possible pay raise to get you into a newer vehicle. Hang tight buddy, we’ll get this done.

PapaSop I still think Austin owes Jonathon a company vehicle. (painted BLUE, of course)!

LOL. If Austin did that it would be so bright orange Jonathon would need sunglasses to drive it.

SausageKingOfIdaho lol. I love my job and the owners treat me well but I haven’t touched the 460 in weeks…my Escape treats me far better. Unfortunately it’s going into the shop in a few days so I’ll be feeding the beast until my daily driver is back in action. I’m counting the days until weather permits driving the old Buick.

You could have a bad brake line going to the caliper.
Sometimes the the rubber brake line going to the caliper will start collapsing.
Which will cause the caliper to lock up or to have spongy brakes.
The spongy brakes is the line actually growing when the pressure is being applied through the line.
I have had happened on a couple of different rigs.

SausageKingOfIdaho So…I took my Escape to the shop…turns out the worries were a false alarm. Whew! I might have driven the truck 80-100 miles since I bought it last fall. Maybe $30 in gas? Lol

Buddy took his escape to the dealer and they bought it back for like $2000 some recall if I remember right
