I am thinking of doing a modified carnivore diet, I would eat only meat but I would use seasonings. My goal here is to drop some body fat while not losing muscle mass. I’ve noticed recently that my love handles are more noticeable and annoying and when I run for the first few minutes all I can feel is my belly fat jouncing around. I’m not overly self critical, I know I’m in decent shape for a 41 year old but I want to drop some pounds and this seems like the most fun/useful way to do this. So, I am going to use this post as a way of tracking that.

    Starting weight: 193 (yikes)
    Waist: 38.5 "

One thing, a daily Honey Crisp apple will be added to my “Carnivore” diet as I’d just miss them too much!

Good on ya for taking the initiative. I am on a pretty strict diet from my doctor - I have metabolic syndrome and am on an insulin resistance diet. So lots of protein and zero sugar (Hence all the chicken posts). I have to maintain a stable blood sugar. It is kind of a pain, but I am trying it. 3 weeks so far.
      Go get em Carnivore

You should really try a “see food” diet. Also don’t you know Dad bods are the in thing, just ask Austin !

Tex_77 I just generally like working out but the reason I am doing this specifically is because my wife is a fitness fanatic and I can’t let her beat me at that!

Jonathon just ask her what guy she is trying to impress, because she already has you! One’s heart only has so many beats in it, you don’t want to go wasting those beats on exercise.

Dr. Paul Saladino was just on the Meateater Podcast. The episone was titled “kale doesn’t love you back”. I don’t know if I could go all meat but some of the stuff he talks about plant based oils being like poison to is is really interesting.

I did that and I lost 25 pounds but my cholesterol went up 50 points overall. Back to healthy carbs and exercise for me. My body doesn’t like it. Keep an eye on your if you do the no/low carb. It’s a known problem with all that animal protein.

Ill update the post weekly but ummm this wasn’t a good weekend to kick this off, my wife and her entire MBA studfy group got together at Chicken and Pickle for some drinks and that turned into a breaking of my diet from a week ago. I’m so strong willed that it is scary really! No, seriously should have thought this through and started on today but oh well, back at it!
