New Livestream

Hi guys, Austin and I have been kicking around the idea of a weekly Meatgistics Livestream. The idea behind it would be to take 1 specific meat processing topic and go over it in depth. We’d like to tie in the topic to something that has been discussed on meatgistics recently but that won’t necessarily always be the case. We would like to start out on things we are “experts” on and not things we would have to do a good amount of research on. So, I have a few questions, is there an audience for this, would people watch? And if so, what weekday day would work best, it can’t be Monday’s because those are very busy days and it can’t be Friday’s because we already have the podcast that day. I created the poll below so we can easily see what days would work best. Let us know and if there is an audience for this we will do it but we are going to try it at least for a few weeks to see if it catches on!
Jonathon I can’t seem to access my microsoft account, but Yes I would be interested. Wednesday and Thursday are best, but really any day works.

Jonathon I would go back to a time before all this high tech stuff. Can’t see where it has helped the family or society in any way. It may be faster, so for what, to have more time to watch TV… Enjoy tomorrow. Wish the wife well on her MBA.

Chef I am with you 110%, & to think I used to be considered avante’ guard, higher tech 40 years ago. Pardon me for saying so, but I used to say Microsoft would end up being the Boon & the Bain of our society about 20 years ago. Now, that everyone out there seems to know a whole lot about it all, I seem to know not much of anything. As you can see, you don’t want to get me started.

Jonathon, Any day could work for me & any day might not. It just depends on my schedule on any given week. The past few weeks we have been totally & completely swamped. For the past several months since say March, we have been all over the board, but generally slow. Before then, it was really a nice, easy, steady ride. The schedule seems to have become erratic. Please pardon the answer, relative to our schedule in the field. Dave

Pardon me for saying so, but I used to say Microsoft would end up being the Boon & the Bain of our society about 20 years ago. (for those too young to know, the spacecraft that took men to the moon). He did so with a slide rule. I still have it in my office today. Massive mathematical tables. There was no such thing as a calculator. It’s amazing just what one can accomplish when you want to (and not find excuse why we can’t).

Chef Yes, I have some of those older devices too for several things including design & electrical or communications technology. Yes, I remember when I was in junior high school algebra & I had this old calculator I had acquired & wanted to use it, the teacher liked to cut my head off! These days you are in trouble if you do not have one & mine was just basic. Then I remember when I got my first scientific calculator, I think it was in the mid to late 70’s. I think it was a TI-30 & cost nearly $300.00, but came in a nice Denim case.

I could not do algebra or any of that stuff now (loved trig, believe it or not & thought that was the best of them all) if you paid me to & threatened my life.

The rest of us scraped every penny we could to get one before the next test.

Chef I am not sure, but yes on all the other stuff & even for Engineering physics I & II in college. I broke all the rules & took Calculus & Engineering Physics II at the same time. You are not supposed to do that & it is against the rules, but for some odd reason or another, the let me do it. I am one of those get it done type folks I suppose. I normally expected A’s & B’s out of myself. Best pair of C’s I ever had in my life! I never made it technically to grad school, just got the five year professional Architecture degree which was about 180 hours. Some schools call it a master now. That was more than enough of all that for me. Then of course, we haven’t even got to those pesky CEs.

Chef it has been an oft repeated lamentation for all generations that “the good ole days” were the best. the truth is that it is how we spend the time we have been blessed with. There will , and always have been the distractions of the modern age ("those dman Neanderthals and their fire "). But people always found a way to have good marriages, raise good families, be good friends. A common denominator was a strong faith, a belief in the good in your fellow man, and a desire to be a better person. The call to go back to a day “before technology” discounts the value that technology has brought to our health and quality of life. the thing of technology, it Achilles heel, is that it can simply be “unplugged” …DO you like the way I slipped the word damn passed the censors!
