i placed a rack inside and just put the container with the pickles on the rack.

Just tumbled a spatchcock chicken. Even at 28 rpm the mechanical tenderization seperated a leg quarter from the joint. Im actually happy about that because the gear head i ordered doesn’t fit my motor. Bad thing about chinese parts is 20 million company’s make knock offs of the same Model# and fitment is a crap shoot. Oh well, ebay has a good return policy for buyers. Just sucks because i might have to replace the entire motor/gear head since i can’t find a gear head for this chinese knock off. I guess that old adage “you get what you pay for” holds true. But its still a great machine even if i can’t control speed. -
Maybe you can put an intermittent on off switch. Then control the length of time its on and then off. Like on for 1 second off for 5. Your speed you turned would be the same but the rpm could be controlled.

I believe i mentioned i tried a dimmer switch. That is what a dimmer switch does, but i dont know how many times per second the lowest setting on a dimmer turns off/on.
I suppose i could write a arduino sketch to cut a dc relay to toggle a 220v ac momentary switch to any length of time to find the sweet spot (if there is one).

Any chance to convert to a DC motor?I thought of it, but the circuit board takes the 220v then splits the 220v to a series of relays then to the motor, and the 220v also goes to what i believe is a ac to dc transformer that goes to anoher circuit board that controls the timer, and the forward and reverse functions just to name a few. My cheapest solution was to just get a higher ratio gear head. I am just going to ship this gear head back and go through some place like Aliexpress and try and find the correct chinese knock off. I’ll get it cheap but it will take up to 60 days to get here.

mikemikemike Yeah. I was thinking something to control a solid state relay. Arduino would definately work. Also a raspberry pi might be a good candidate. If you went raspberry pi you might be able to find an interface you could control remotely.

mikemikemike Yeah. Going the arduino or rasberry pi route you’d be best to take the onboard controller out of the loop. I feel your pain on the shipping etc. Once you get it where you I want it though you will be proud and have something your friends will envy.

Honestly, it works great as is. I just figured for an extra $30 i could reduce the speed to an average speed some of the more $$$ tumblers use. The persistent side of me doesn’t want to give up though, lol.
Boy did that spatchcock chicken turn out juicy and tender. I injected with sodium phosphate, and did a 5% salt brine in the tank. 25inHg for 30 min. Amazing.

I hope you find the right gear. Any chance of a motor repair shop fairly close? They may be able to help with sizing and sourcing
Be careful with artificially slowing an AC induction motor, overheating an burn out is the problem -
