Meatgistics Podcast: Conversations With Mark Lewke

Each week, Jon and Austin break out and critique a new beer and different sausage while they discuss everything about meat. Follow along as they talk about their favorite recipes and share some of the best expert tips and tricks for making sausage and jerky. Stay up to date on the latest news and current trends in the meat industry as Jon and Austin explore everything related to meat and more.

    Jon and Asutin

    Beautiful Beverages

Austin had High Beam from Walnut River Brewing which is a favorite of his
Jon tried the Worth the Wait from Boulevard Brewing an excellent, strong Red.

    Conversation with Mark

We talked about how he got started hosting the 4 Outdoors Men what he does for Ron Schara and his favorite things to hunt and fish. Mark has been extremely helpful to Walton’s, getting us on more shows and meeting new people. He is an incredibly interesting guy who has a special love for the outdoors.

    Whats next

Next week we have Kurt Ratzlaff from the Kansas Back Country Hunters & Anglers (https://www.backcountryhunters.org/) to talk about The Great American Outdoors Act and a few things that were in there that Jon had a problem with. A great conversation that I hope everyone checks out. That will be released next Monday the 3rd.

Trying to get caught up on the podcast’s. This was really good. Mark is a very interesting dude. Perhaps being from Wi. has a part in it but… Due North, Made for the Outdoors and Backroads have long been a favorite. Will have to check out The Flush. Well done.

PapaSop The last 2 were by far my favorites (sorry Brett!) we had the BHA guys on one and the NWTF on the other and they told some awesome hunting stories and we had a blast. This Friday we have one of the creators of the Steak Cookoff Association coming in, that wont be released until a week from this upcoming Monday though.

Jonathon Speaking of the SCA, I noticed you are carrying their steak seasonings now, how are they?

Tex_77 I was supposed to try that a few weeks ago…of course I just used the same thing I always use (Walton’s ultimate) but I think I will stop on the way home today and have Walton’s buy me a nice juicy ribeye and try it out! I think Darkfish89 has used it?

Jonathon Yes of course i have lol Its a lot like Kosmo’s Texas beef & Cow cover in fact i think its a knock off of them entirely. Really good stuff i put a good coating of both on each side of the steak but for me i still like to add Walton’s Ultimate just to get that sharp salt and garlic flavor.

Jonathon maybe as part of the Podcast, you can challenge him to a steak cookoff!

Tex_77 I am 90% sure I would get embarrassed in that! Topics we are planning on going over are, picking the best steak, trimming a ribeye, why tie them, what grill is best for competition and then general process for cooking the best competition steak.

Jonathon well maybe Darkfish89 could step in and help you out. I’d come do it for you, but you know that whole JOB thing is standing in my way.

Tex_77 No, sadlt Brett from SCA had to cancel. However, we did do a taste test of 6 different seasonings for steaks and let our salespeople and more importantly Austin and I determine which was best. We then drank a bunch and talked about crazy/disgusting foods, so, one of my favorite podcasts ever!
