Drink of Choice

I’ll take Old Weller 107 any day any time.

Chef Wellers is on of the best in my opinion.

I just kegged up 5 gallons of Irish Ale and a Coffee Stout to add to the other four keg of beer. Add to that another 6+ gallons of strawberry wine. Wedding coming up next weekend, I will be looking for some bourbon or whiskey the day after the wedding while doing some clean up and relaxing.

calldoctoday you have an event coming up also, or has it already happened? The cooking and preparation will pickup steam after the 4th of July. It is going to happen whether we are ready or not. We are at least down to under 100.

YooperDog Ours happened last weekend. We just finished with the final out of towner. It turned out very nice. However, I wanted more of the food to be eaten. I cooked & prepped just about all day & part of the night Wednesday & Thursday. The brides family pulled a surprise & cooked one day of the even. They did a really good job & made some excellent deserts too. We fed as many as we could, but it seemed like many were eating like they were on diets, but they also took to go plates, so we filled them up. The brisket was not what I wanted it to be as all I could get was choice flat, rather than prime whole packer. I should have gone ahead & brined the flat, but it was still good, just not as good as I expect. The beans were excellent. The Mac & Cheese totally disappeared, like that whooshing sound. The breakfast food & fruit to make up for the hotels not cutting it went, but not like I expected. Everyone just about seemed to be in some diet mode. Maybe it was a Florida thing, I don’t know. The good wine & beer did not seem to flow like it should have either as only a few seemed to want to partake. Get togethers just ain’t what they used to be. Wishing you the best ob yours & hope they eat it all up.

calldoctoday I would just like a good count, 50-100 is a big swing. Many won’t commit until sometime next week. I planning on 75 and if the food runs out all the better. Menu has gone from BBQ to picnic, I have plenty of butts and Packers in the freezer, now switching over to beef and chicken sliders two styles each, brats and hot dogs. A bunch of sides plus the bride’s family is doing the desserts and side salads. Our side will eat and drink, not sure about the bride’s. Now I am getting a list of all the food allergies and preferences. I think I should have taken my wife’s advise and hired a couple of food trucks. LOL

calldoctoday glad you survived, normally we have company from end of June to July with family, gets to feel like a bed and breakfast after the first week. Some people just don’t know how to enjoy an event, but at least you you will have leftovers. The bride doesn’t eat leftovers, I would have starved as a kid if I held that thought.

I am laughing out loud & I am with you 110% on that, but look at me now!
Those brisket sliders are turning out real nice, now that everyone is gone. Still have about 10 pounds of Cold Slaw & Tater Salad, so that is perfect. I know you will do well & you are thinking about a lot of stuff that I am just not used to thinking about, but you are doing good! -

YooperDog as long as it is not milk or Nitro I love coffee stouts or porters
-
Chef I have a few bottles of that one stashed away and my name on file at the liquor store for any time it comes in!
Joe Hell Hey, let me know if they have an extra bottle or 2, Haven’t been able to get any here in the Houston area for about 1 1/2 years. Would be great if they ship it to me.

Chef They limit purchases to one bottle each of the Antique or Reserve. The store is located in Oregon and I go there every Thursday which is freight day. If I’m lucky I might score a bottle or two every 4-6 weeks. Yesterday I struck out.
Joe Hell Oh well, can’t blame a man from trying. LOL

Departing Contestant I am not a big milk stout fan either. But I made what folks were asking for. For this warmer weather I would go with IPA’s, ale and pilsner styles. I do have a Kolsch in the mix and that is is a pretty light beer, lawn mower style. Not everyone is a fan of the punch you in the face IPA’s, but I think that Austin has an opportunity to convert Jonathan.

Happy 4th
Gonna start with red beer today (IMHO Hamm’s mixes great with V8 bloody Mary mix)
Then switch to whiskey on the rocks. Not sure which whiskey, depends on which relatives show up if you know what I mean LOL -
Started out on beer but I am switching to whiskey sours. I just have to get to the point that the ribs are basically done so I dint screw them up.
