They already think they are pretty cute, I work to deflate their egos, not increase! Also, can anyone explain to me why Brutus shot up in weight after we got him neutered? Seriously the guy has put around 20 lb on in the last month since we snipped him.

beekeeper84 He got 3 baths with dish soap (admittedly not dawn cause I am cheap) and it is down to about 5% but still not perfect. I grabbed some Skunk Be Gone from and he’s getting another bath tonight. I hate doing that cause he hates baths and he already needs to be on meds for anxiety…my dogs are a mess, thank god I don’t have kids, they would probably be a mess too!

I let my dog back in the house early one morning before a fishing trip. She came running in and started rolling on the carpet but as she ran past me I realized she’d been sprayed by a skunk-too late! Before I could get her back outside she ran into the bedroom where the wife was still sleeping and jumped on the bed-total pandemonium. My wife wasn’t real pleased when my fishing partner showed up and I had to leave. But, still married-47 years this year.

I do some trapping when pelts are prime. I always get 2-3 people a year with skunks who have taken up residency around their residence. Skunks are pretty easy to deal with and pretty calm unless a dog is around. My 1st warning if I’m going to trap around a residential building put your dog up or you’re not going to like the results, both to your dog and your neighborhood.
Skunk essence has value but every time I extract some, even though I wear gloves it will permeate them and also be in your clothes. My wife can tell I’ve been working with one as soon as I hit the door.

Just wanted to share this but last night my idiot dog got sprayed by a skunk at 2 AM and after a quick google search I used a1 qt of 3% hydrogen peroxide, a half a cup of baking powder (not soda) and 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap.

When I first got near him I almost gagged and it was an unreal strong smell of almost Garlic? But as soon as I got the towel on him that was soaked in that solution the smell was cut by about 95%! So, if anyone has a similar incident this is the way to go!!!

Jonathon my 100lb golden doodle got skunked in the face area a couple summers back. Took months to get the stink off. Every time he got his chin wet / drank water / you could relive that smell. I feel for you…

ClaytonD It seems like when he runs around a lot it gets stronger, maybe heat-activated (o reactivated) or something? Thanks to everyone who commented!

We use that all the time. Keep the ingredients on the shelf all the time.
Dog can sleep in your bedroom the same night.
