Bough some cheap ground beef and gave it a whirl. Not a bad experience, but definately some work with setup and cleanup.

Waltons Quick patty MakerFinally had a moment to take it out of the box.

What did everyone cook today?Sous vide will change your life in a good way.

Waltons Quick patty MakerLook a there you are correct ethyl acetate is the compound used to smooth/melt PETG. Your concerns are noted. I will keep them in mind when I venture down the road of modifications. I think if it were something I was going to use indefinitely I would probably have to look at a process similar to this:

Waltons Quick patty MakerValid point about food safety. I will be constructing it out of PETG which from the little research I have done it is considered food safe. Will probably print it with 100% infill and depending on what it looks like either sand it smooth or attempt some acetone smoothing.

Cellulose Casings out of Stock?Jonathon Yeah those burgers look terribly good. I dont use High temp cheese, but I have found that sharp cheddar works well in the patties. I cook burgers on a homemade flattop and the sear that puts on them really makes a difference.

Waltons Quick patty MakerJonathon Yeah I am glad it got back in stock. Just looking at photos I think it should be pretty easy. Will probably take longer to print than it will to design.

Cellulose Casings out of Stock? That’s an interesting idea. I have been using Dasida Soup Stock, Beef Flavor in some other recipes that might help boost the flavor in a hotdog as well.

Waltons Quick patty MakerOne other thing I am thinking of doing is designing and 3d printing a plate to make 1/4lb burgers and possibly one to do sliders or breakfast sausage patties.
-
Waltons Quick patty MakerI am thinking about just buying 80/20 ground and running it through my 25lb mixer with the seasonings. Then use my 15lb stuffer to make the patties. Lay them out on sheet pans and freeze them and then vacuum packaging them 8 to a pack. I think I am going to run 14lbs at a time which should make 42ish burgers or 5 packs.

Waltons Quick patty MakerGuess who is getting a Waltons Quick patty Maker. This Guy thats who!

Cellulose Casings out of Stock?I am going to use the cellulose to make skinless hotdogs. I found some 21mm small batch so I am going to give them a try if I ever get the time. I might just buy ground beef to save time and effort.
-
Cellulose Casings out of Stock?I have to agree. I think the 30-32 is kind of large also, I purchased some 32-35 and they are huge for a regular bun. I have been looking for tubed 26-28 casings and haven’t found any as of yet.
The 32-35 are great for Italian sausages though.
I have yet to use cellulose for anything, but I might give it a try next round as I have some in stock.

Cellulose Casings out of Stock? So it appears the only small batch of Cellulose casings in stock are 26mm. That seems a little big for a chicago style dog as you gotta fit the whole salad bar in the bun. Any suggestions on alternatives.

Cured Bone in Turkey BreastYeah its just an experiment. I used it to do the Canadian bacon and it turned out great. I might just follow the same process and see how it goes. $8 Turkey breast aint much of a loss if it goes sideways.
-
Cured Bone in Turkey BreastI dunno probably more than a few days. It might get here in time, but I’d rather try and use what I have.
-
Cured Bone in Turkey BreastSo I picked up a few Turkey breasts for $.99 a pound and I decided to buy an extra one to “play” with. I am thinking of doing a cured turkey since that sounds like an awesome addition to my already brined and smoked turkey which I do every year.
Currently I have the Blue Ribbon Maple Bacon Cure and the Bacon Taste Booster. I do not think I can order anything and have it here in time for this weekend so what would the recommendation be when using these two items.

#32 Hand/Belt Driven GrinderThe parts holder and drawer come out to about 375g so its about $7.50 in material.

#32 Hand/Belt Driven GrinderSo I purchased the Creality ender 3 base model. I have 3 of them now. The first one I purchased directly from Creality and I paid $165. The last two I bought refurbished from Creality off their website for $148. The differences come down to the control board and longevity/ease to upgrade firmware. I only intended to have 2 printers, but some confusion between myself and a friend led to the 3rd being ordered and I figured the more the merrier.
If your not super comfortable with words like programming and compiling I would probably suggest spending a little more and getting a machine that is easier to maintain such as the Creality Ender-3 V2. That along with a Bltouch ,which you would install to avoid having to manually level the bed, and you have a very stable platform.
Its all very computer based though I wouldn’t say its plug and play yet, but the amount of online resources are almost overwhelming. Take a look at Teaching Tech. That guy goes through almost everything you could possibly want to know in excruciating detail.
Also take a look at Thingiverse. They have a ton of free downloadable models that you can slice in free software and then pop on an SD card and print out.

#32 Hand/Belt Driven GrinderJonathon So a 1kg roll of PLA Filament is about $20. The funnel is estimated at 200grams and the cover at about 143grams. So 343/1000 = .343 * $20 = $6.86 per complete set.
