Does anyone know if the chamber bags are the same as boil-in-bags?

Chef I don’t believe the regular chamber bags can be boiled. They have a temperature limitation. Walton’s does offer boilable chamber pouches.

Chef I know they make special boil bags. I do not know what makes them “boilable” but I know years ago when first looking into sous vide that sometimes when you vac sealed a bag the the seal itself would fail from the heat.

Chef I have done a short boil in a standard chamber bag (don’t know if they all are the same) the problem I had was one bag came to rest on the side of the metal pot and failed.
Would I do it again? no, the bags were getting uncomfortably pliable.
If I don’t necessarily need to boil to cook the product I have taken the bags to 190F in sous vide

Just tried this as well. Used the Walton’s 3mil bags. Did not melt or lose the seal. About a 4 minute boil. Just my take on this.

Came out dry. Your call. Still think I’d do a test run before preparing a meal.

Chef You know with marketing these days, wouldn’t you think if they were BPA free, ability to use to warm up in water it would be plastered somewhere?

Name brand vacuum bags are usually listed as BPA free . If it is not mentioned it may be cause for concern.
For some, other chemicals leaching from plastic pouches may be an issue
Reusable silicon sous vide bags are becoming more popular but have other drawbacks, cleaning, sterilizing, drying, etc.
