Any whitetail that dresses out at 200 lbs or above is above average. Those are all very nice deer pictured and anyone would be proud to have taken them.

ND Mike wow those are some huge deer. It’s almost cheating. I have to kill 2 deer to get the same amount of meat yall get out of 1. Good luck this season maybe you’ll knock your brother out of that big buck contest 😉.

cdavis good luck to you! I got turned down on my buck tag but got a doe tag. I am planning on using my Grandpa’s Winchester 30-30 that he gave me to harvest my doe tag. That is if I can find some 30-30 shells!

ND Mike thank you sir. I just bought 5 boxes of 30 30s from optics planet.com. They were really reasonable with fast shipping. I’ve bought a lot of ammo from them lately.

ND Mike sorry about your buck tag. I sometimes forget some people have to draw for them. We’re lucky here we get 2 buck tags and 4 doe tags.

cdavis that sure would be nice. I fear our tags are really going to be reduced next year. We are have had a huge EHD outbreak! They are finding hundreds upon hundreds of dead deer.

ND Mike I just pray that never happens here. We have a really healthy deer herd. The only time I hear about around here it’s the pen raised deer and they are really strict about the way they are disposed of.

cdavis they are blaming it on our drought. EHD is caused by the bite of a midge (gnat). First killing frost will stop it. Luckily CWD is limited to only a few units in the West.

kyle I honestly think CWD has been around forever but we are just getting better at seeing it and I do believe deer farms have greatly aided in spreading it to the wild herds alot more easily.

kyle it’s a shame that your state is not more strict on farm raised deer. Oklahoma is really strict. All deaths have to be reported and investigated for cause of death then disposed of in a certain manner.

ND Mike I agree. And I think it’s funny how when a wild deer is found with cwd, it’s always within a few miles of a deer farm, and when the farm is tested, the fenced deer have it too.

cdavis it is too bad. But when new laws are introduced to try and help, the deer farmers fight it saying it will cost them too much money and it’s not fair to them. My opinion is it’s not fair to the rest of the sportsman.

kyle your exactly right it’s not fair to the hunters that pay good money for tags and everything else that goes with it to be pushed aside. That money is supposed to be used to keep our wildlife healthy. These other people are getting rich and hurting what hunters are paying for.
