Alaskaljd Can you send us some pics of the back of the auger? I am specifically interested to see if there is any damage to the grooves and ridges back there that allows the motor to spin the auger. If there isn’t something easy like that then it is probably something with the motor or gear system. We do have a parts and service department and if you call 800-835-2832 and explain your problem they might be able to have our parts guys see what can be ordered to fix it. Worth a shot for sure.

Jonathon Thank you! I will work on getting some photos uploaded. I am concerned that it may be the gears, but I have to get into the gear box to see so I am definitely interested in any other possibility before opening the gear box casing.

Alaskaljd sounds like a gear to me, I would open up the grinder and check the gears. Sounds like one of the drive gears is striped

Chef That’s my concern as well. Hoping for some other possibility before I tear into the gear box to see what’s going on.

Alaskaljd it looks like it broke some metal off the tube in this picture.

Alaskaljd There is a small piece of metal broken off in the actual head of the grinder itself, but I do not believe it is enough to change the performance by much. More than enough surface area remaining to push the meat through. I strongly believe that it is a drive gear, so tear the band-aid off. As Jonathon said, replacement parts for this grinder are readily available. It would be a good time to change the gear lube while you are doing so, It is the best way to insure there are no metal particals left in the drive train.

Alaskaljd i don’t see anything there that seems to be an issue, I took an auger out of ours and it looks the same as yours. I was “hoping” to see wear on the teeth at the back of the auger but it looks clean. I’d guess you are correct and a gear is stripped. Where are located? 4 years will be outside warranty unfortunately but hopefully we can assist in parts at least.

Jonathon I live in Alaska. We bought the grinder from Waltons right before we moved up from Kansas. I will tear into the gear box and give your parts/service a call to see if they can help me out with the specific parts. If shipping to Alaska is an issue I’ll just have my family stop by Waltons to pick it up and mail it to me. Thank you!!

Alaskaljd We can ship to you, just not always cost effective. Let us know if you need any help, other than that, our capable CS team should be able to assist!
