craigrice You can make coffee or at least some strong tea out of Yaupon leaves & coffee from extra roasted peanuts.

craigrice Got to agree. Must have coffee. Have my drip pot and I keep several pounds of coffee on hand. Water, got a well with very good water. I’m looking into one of those manuel pumps that still can operate as an electric pump.

I’m going to start a new topic of what to have just in case. Will be interesting to see what people suggest.

Well, we could go back to eating poke salad like when we were kids & sassafras root tea. Then I have also tried Yucca, but I have heard since then that was not too smart. Also, Greenbrier & some other things that are rampant are edible if it comes down to it. Then we can get to them tree rats, etc. Tree Rat stew is delicious.

Chef Try that French press, that is all we use anymore sine I was down in Louisiana many years ago & all the power was out & could not get any decent coffee. Then if the power goes out, you just have to boil the water & that can definitely be done & have a watch.

craigrice Yes indeedy. It has probably only been about 35 years for us as we had some trees on one of our properties & I would make it. Drank it all the time as a kid as my mother knew it was good for us. God Bless Her Soul, she had a lot old indian home remedies & some of them, whew, if they did not get rid of what ales up, you better. Like Cayenne Tea, Homemade Quinine, lots of teas & herbs. Now a days, I think most of that stuff is illegal. I have no complaints though at all.
