That was from my back porch. It went east past us, then turned north and went along side us. Probably within 3 miles at the closest to our house. We watched it form and grow from just a small rope tornado to a pretty wide funnel. I guess they said F3 was the size.
Right before this one built up, we watched a funnel cloud swirling above the house and within 5 minutes of that, we watched the one in the picture form. It was quite a night for watching storms! Did a fair bit of damage through Andover, but thankfully no casualties.

Austin that is a great picture. I love watching storms form. I’m glad you guys didn’t suffer any damage and glad for no loss of life. We get a decent amount of nasty storms up here too. Closest I have been to a tornado was 1/4 mile that I know of and that was neat to watch out in the country. I say that I know of because once while I was working I swear I was in the middle of a rain wrapped tornado. I had to pull over because the winds were so strong and it was raining unbelievably hard. 200 yards in front of me the winds or tornado or whatever it was pushed an SUV into the back of a flatbed semi trailer. It was pretty crazy!

Austin Great picture. I also like watching storms form but want the to stop before the tornado possibilities
We have been lucky here west of Wichita, it seems the bad storms are usually to the east of us

Austin it sure is amazing what they can do but yet look so graceful. I’m always out when storms come through to get video and photos if a tornado should form. We have an elevated risk for us starting now through the night.

Austin I have been texting family to make sure they were OK. Like you it was too close for comfort. One has a construction project that the tornado just skirted. Im glad everyone is OK.

Austin we are glad to hear that no one died. Property can be replaced although it takes time. Great looking photo, they always look interesting until they are in your backyard. We used to live in the panhandle of TX and had our share of them.

I can’t confirm but I HEARD the tornado was scared to come near my neighborhoood. No, seriously thank god no one was seriously hurt, and while some buildings were hit, nothing that can’t be fixed!
