Can better photo handling be added the downsizes photos uploaded automatically? If I try to post original photos from phone I always run into errors.

Can it be made easier to see if you have upvoted (liked?) a post in the forum? At least in chrome the icons look identical if you have clicked or not. SO often I go to upvote a post and the number goes down - making me realized I already had liked it.
Apologies… Couldn’t resist. ;). LOL
At the risk of jinxing myself here… I was using a photo resizer for a long time when using my phone for posting or transferring to laptop. For some reason it quit loading pics to this site. Decided to upload pics directly from my phone’s gallery and it worked. Now it uploads the pic and automatically resizes it. No idea why, but if it’s not broke…
I typically use my laptop when reading through the latest posts. Use the “Dumb” phone when I want to send pics. Another reason I use the laptop is because I’m sitting at the kitchen table chilling with a bourbon in hand!

PapaSop Recently, I just bring up the pic on the phone and resize it through the edit feature to 40% of original. No issues after using this procedure. Up to about 1 month ago, pics uploaded from gallery were autoresized. Now, the system does not. Thus, my new process.

I’m still able to upload and everything resizes. Weird.

PapaSop Absolutely weird since on the 3 sites I’m a caretaker, electronics are usually consistent. This old boy cannot explain the variable.

Jamieson22 Both of those things are possible. I had someone turn off the auto downsizing as that was part of what was causing all the odd stretch stuff. Not sure how we would identify if you have upvoted a post or not. We could put some identifier like an underline or something underneath the # of upvotes on the #. Maybe we could do the highlight of the # if it’s you who upvoted it?

Obviously, I am doing some resizing testing.

Here’s what I get when uploading straight from the gallery.
!
Notice the resized.jpg. No idea why it’s doing that but I’m good with it. Thought the cartoon was kinda funny.

Okay, I did some playing around with downsizing and downgrading images to expand file size but it seems as if there is a size that NodeBB (who hosts Meatgistics) can’t handle. I expanded the max file size by a factor of 10 but anything over the current cap wouldn’t accept even though we had it resizing based on the pixel width and then quality.
I also tried just removing all restrictions and down sizing and that did not seem to work.

For upvote could you change the icon if already clicked? Maybe a greyed out version or something? Make them kind of like an on/off switch.

PapaSop Yes, good cartoon and it makes sense to me! As for the downsizing yes, it is working on images under the file max but past the width max, it doesn’t seem to be working on files that are over the max. I am looking at some different plug ins but most likely this is going to have to wait.
Rachel is looking into highlighting the # if the user has already upvoted that post. Jamieson22 We will try the highlight 1st because we have done that custom already, if we figure that aspect out we can look at different ways to identify it.
