What are you hunting/fishing?

cdavis Congratulations, hopefully soon I will be doing the same.

No elk this year. I am so bummed.

lkrfletcher Sorry to hear that.

RON PARRISH - Yeah My hunting partner panicked when we got like 4 inches of snow. Wanted to get out, so we came out, leaving 5 hunting days on the table.

lkrfletcher A friend of mine went to Colorado last year to hunt elk. They had snow the first day and had to come out. He said it was a long drive back to Ohio

RON PARRISH - I am getting a new hunting Partner next season. Snow is exactly what we needed. They shot a 6 x 7 bull not 1/2 mile from our camp, and he wants to leave. Yup, he is gone.

lkrfletcher I would have to agree with you on the hunting partner. He would have to go.

Got to sit in the stand some this weekend. Not much activity, temps were high and so was the wind. I did have a 3 year old 8 point walk past at 30 yards. Passed on him. Looking for an older animal.

Spent the weekend with my family hunting. We didn’t harvest any deer but saw plenty. We are just picky. I was treated to some amazing ND sunrises and sunsets!

Great pics, ND Mike. It’s a great time of year in the Midwest!

cdavis thanks! Being out there and enjoying it is my reset button! It is a place where I truly feel at ease.

lkrfletcher that really stinks! I’m sorry your hunting partner chickened out and wanted to get out before the snow hit. Snow is usually what gets the elk moving!

cdavis thanks! I’m into the old school muzzloaders. I have 50 and 54 caliber caplocks and 54 cal flintlock and a 58 cal flintlock. Both the flintlocks need to be put together yet. The 58 is going to be put together first. Super high quality kit from Kibler Longrifles.
ND Mike Ditto. I feel like the modern inlines are too close to a modern rifle & do not bring the nostalgia that a true old style ball & cap or flintlock bring.

lkrfletcher That is a real bummer. When I was much younger my wife & I both would go out for several days, with snow, & other than really heavy rain, the tougher weather, the better. I cannot say I am still like that at all or even close, but that was part of the experience then & still is.

ND Mike That’s some very open country you have there.
