I sat out yesterday evening. The bucks are starting to chase the does around here.

cdavis I’ve never broken down a deer. But, in comparison to other loins I’ve seen here by others, those backstraps are expertly done and clean. That’s about all I know. It does look like you scored a bounty for sure.

cdavis has done this a few times. Looks like an expert team at work on that buck!

cdavis good looking deer! I miss hunting with muzzleloaders. I have 9 preference points for a muzzleloader tag. My wife has 11!

ND Mike I love hunting with a muzzle loader. I’m so glad we don’t have to draw for a tag. I wish you and your wife the best of luck on your draw.

zbigjeff thanks and you are correct.I had to drive into town today and saw several dead deer on the side of the road. A sure sign that the rut is on.

cdavis I agree. The bucks will do crazy stuff they never do the rest of the year. When trying to explain why hunting the rut is so important to my non hunting friends I say, if you only got it once a year you would act stupid too. Pursuing Doe is the only time they make stupid mistakes.

cdavis thanks! I’m into the old school muzzloaders. I have 50 and 54 caliber caplocks and 54 cal flintlock and a 58 cal flintlock. Both the flintlocks need to be put together yet. The 58 is going to be put together first. Super high quality kit from Kibler Longrifles.
