What are you hunting/fishing?
-
johnsbrewhouse that is correct. The transmitting insects will die after a hard freeze.

I hunted this buck the whole muzzle loader season. I passed on numerous smaller bucks hoping this buck would show up in the daylight.
Nothing like waiting till the last 15 minutes of the last day. But it paid off.
Got my skinning crew all hooked up. It just amazed me how good my kids have gotten at this. They are now 11 and 12 years old. They’ve been doing this since they were 5.
back straps and tender loins are coming out.
2hrs and 20min. from the time of the shot til the meat is on ice to bleed out for 3 or 4 days.

cdavis Starting to see a little more movement during the day, the temp is getting into the teens at night but it sounds like it might warm a little next week but not too bad.

bocephus those bucks should start moving more with the rut drawing near.
-
cdavis Yep I think it is starting, hopefully in full swing next week.
-
bocephus this buck I killed was the first good buck that I’ve seen chasing does. The little bucks have been pestering them for about 2 weeks.

cdavis “Love is in the air” throughout the northern region for sure just by looking at the highways each day. I wish all of you hunting people a good time. I was never introduced to it in any of my circles. Can’t wait to here all the stories. But, keep them above board. LOL

cdavis I’ve never broken down a deer. But, in comparison to other loins I’ve seen here by others, those backstraps are expertly done and clean. That’s about all I know. It does look like you scored a bounty for sure.

I sat out yesterday evening. The bucks are starting to chase the does around here.

cdavis has done this a few times. Looks like an expert team at work on that buck!

The bucks are chasing, in the low country of S. Carolina. Seen two this morning but they wouldn’t slow down. Other things on their mind!!
Love is in the air. Game on!

ND Mike I love hunting with a muzzle loader. I’m so glad we don’t have to draw for a tag. I wish you and your wife the best of luck on your draw.

zbigjeff thanks and you are correct.I had to drive into town today and saw several dead deer on the side of the road. A sure sign that the rut is on.

GWG8541 I really enjoy hunting the rut because you never know what you’re going to see or what time of day you’re going to see them.

cdavis I agree. The bucks will do crazy stuff they never do the rest of the year. When trying to explain why hunting the rut is so important to my non hunting friends I say, if you only got it once a year you would act stupid too. Pursuing Doe is the only time they make stupid mistakes.

GWG8541 that is so true.
