Walton's Grinder Review

Just watched the review and now the dilemma… Argh.
Currently have the Butcher Series #22, which will drive the 44# mixer ( have not used this since snapping one of the paddles off. Weston did send me a new one but very poor design and weld ).
I’m loving the look of the Walton’s #22. Grind head sits higher and the tray is much larger without that silly guard. This obviously will not drive the 44# mixer. The 50# mixer appears to be of much better quality with the paddles angled better and the tilt feature is just the cats a$$.
Think I see a change coming up with the Butcher Series, 44# and 20# mixer heading to a for sale list. Hmm.

PapaSop did you ever sell these? The reason i ask is that the new paddles may work in your old 44# mixer.

Have not sold yet. Still pondering. Have not used either mixer in a long time. Went to doing 12.5lb batches and mixing by hand. Since using the the Sure Gel I found no need to use the mixers. Get great extraction just by hand. Probably just a few minutes and so sticky it wants to pull the gloves off my hands. Much less clean up as well.

I have but just not gotten to it. Thought about taking it over to local tech college. They have a welding program.

They should do it right, and probably for free or at-cost.

PapaSop I agree with you about the sure gel! We mixed 25 lb batches on a table by hand last February. We did have 4 of us mixing it though. I was surprised at how quick it was to start getting protein extraction. You are right about it trying to tug the gloves right off your hands. It actually pulled the glove off my sons hand. He is 11 and was wearing an XL glove but it still pulled it right off!

PapaSop There is definitely a trade off. I personally prefer letting the meat mixer do all of the work, but I know there are many on here who prefer mixing by hand.

I’d actually prefer using the mixer. Here’s the reason I stopped.
Usually have a pond on the floor by the time I’m done cleaning up. Nice place here but the kitchen is small. Argh.
Oops, guess I should have done the dishes first.
