How Much Water to Use?

How much water should I use when mixing with the Excalibur Seasonings?
I used 64 oz on 4 lbs of jerky and tumbled it for 40 minutes in a Marinade Express Pro.
I also used 60 minutes on another batch and after tumbling Placed in the fridge over night.
I don’t know if I used too much liquid because I don’t think that I got the flavor impact that I was hoping for.
Smoked for approximately 3.5 hours in a vertical Pit Boss Pellet Smoker
Did I use to much water??? -
Not knowing what seasoning you were using, I can’t tell you the exact amount of water to use, but what I can tell you is, that is WAY to much water to use. Austin Jonathon You should be able to divide the amount of water it says to use on the package (if any) by 25 to get the amount of water you need per pound, then multiple that by the size of your batch.

JerkyMan
My general recommendation for jerky is no more than 8 oz per 5 lb of meat. All you need is enough to help disperse the seasoning. All the water you add you will end up cooking out, so there is not a ton of sense to try and use more water. If you used 64 oz, I’m guessing that most of your seasoning and flavor was left in the water and your jerky was a little bit bland. Drop your water next time and you will be much happier on the flavor of the finished product. -
JerkyMan Yeah, that’s way more water than you needed. For someone who is letting it marinate overnight we recommend you add just enough water to completely submerge the jerky. With a tumbler, you really only need 20% of your meats weight, and that is at most. You did a 1:1, so next time go down to 12 oz of water and see how that goes. The seasoning was diluted in so much water that im not surprised it didnt taste like anything!
