Just something new that makes me smile (car related)

Well, twilliams post on “A few things in the works” gave me to the push to post this which I figured maybe was too off-topic. Finally hit that age where a 20+ year dream of ownership became a reality.
1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 with 147k miles on it. Picked up in Nov. Getting harder and harder to find clean versions of these and the prices reflect that. Should have jumped on one years ago.

Jamieson22 Very clean find! I bet you gave an arm and a leg for that in the current market. I love classic cruisers! I’ve been in a jeep groove, lately. I had a 92 YJ wrangler that I cleaned up and flipped for a $3K profit three years ago. I took the proceeds and purchased a 2002 TJ wrangler. I’ve been working on making improvements to that and replacing worn out body plastics, soft top and anything mechanical that needed replaced. It is currently for sale and right now I’m looking at close to doubling my initial purchase price, with a buyer currently in negotiations with me now.

Yeah the market for these has gone nuts for sure, especially if you watch Bring a Trailer sales. I got this one for $27.5k and based on condition, miles, and recent work/add-ons I can’t complain. But the purchase price is just the start. I am expecting this rig to be a money pit.

I’ve contemplated posting mine to BAT. I’ve been monitoring Classic.com and cargurus to watch current market trends on my TJ. It really is wild to see values have doubled in the past two years. Glad to see that you’ve pursued and have made a dream of yours a reality. I’ve got my sights set on a small tail-dragger and a pilot license someday!
