ND Mike That is amazing for these days & times. Several folks we know say you are good to get 5 years out of them these days, which is absurd in my opinion.
calldoctoday yeah no kidding…on average your looking at about $2000 for the set. They should last a lot longer for the $$$.

johnsbrewhouse How long have you had it? My oldest son & his wife have one of those & they like it a lot, but have not had for too long. Our first real good wone was a Kenmore, plain & simple Kenmore We heard it was actually a Roper. The real good one I thought I was buying Margaret was a Maytag, always grew up understanding they were the best. It was junk. Then I think we tried a Whirlpool & a Roper. The one we have now is one of the fancy Kenmore’s. Junk still. I have thought about the Speed Queen, but they are small & pricey. You get vastly different opinions on them that I sometimes wonder if are political so to say. A friend of mines brother finally broke down & bought one a few years ago so I am trying to keep up with his ongoing opinion on them. Appliances just are not made like they used to be, much fancier, much more expensive, nicer more automated features & more of them, use less water, some don’t clean as well, but definitely do not last as long.
calldoctoday Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, they are all the same machine, just a different nameplate. Speed Queen is a good machine, it is a commercial machine and spendy to buy. We have had the Samsung for 6 or 7 seven years. It’s the 4.7 cu ft model, which is the biggest they made at the time. Of course at the time we needed it since we had several adult kids here at home. It is a top loader and does have a long reach in. One thing we do is leave the lid open after each use to keep it dry inside.

Our service guy recommended Speed Queen as being the only real solid made machine left, but with five in the house their models are just too small unless you go the the washeteria models. He did say the GE makes a decent one when compared to the rest excluding the Speed Queen, so that is what we went with since they have a giant model.

I bought my front load washer and dryer in 2005. The washer started taking a long time to drain a couple months ago. I found a you tube video of a guy pulling the drain trap out from the pump when he had the problem. I took my front off and pulled mine. Found 5 of my daughters socks in there. Put it back together and works like new.

mrobisr It was strange, the parts house here recommended not going to the Speed Queen so they were one of the nay sayers. I always wondered if it was because they figured they would sell less parts. Yes, that is one of the downsides indeed for them, what 3.2 cf, unless you get one that you have to put money into & those are beyond pricey. I think the Kenmore Oasis we have now is 5.2 & Margaret just seems to like washing clothes a lot, even if my son & I try to be very conservative & helpful. I suppose we could get used to the smaller one & I am sure it would work fine. They all just about seem smaller than they used to be. We will probably always stick with top loaders, I have never been to excited about the front loaders other than commercial models.

One of the most awesome reasons for a chamber vac…I can vac seal liquids!!! Chili going in the freezer for a later day! I love this thing!!!
