twilliams the form is called a stubby. I do taxidermy for a hobby. I mount 40 to 50 heads a year. I use all Dan Chase forms. To show any detail you have to rework the forms. I do it to all my mounts. I like the detail and so do my customers .I think it’s worth the extra work. 20160430_150924.jpg 20160430_150838.jpg

twilliams I put 2 pictures on there but only 1 shows. If you click the blue line above the picture the other 1 will show. There you can see some good facial detail. I must say I’m surprised you picked up on the detail on the pack mount. Most people wouldn’t. It must be the photographer in you.

cdavis i am very a n a l and i feel i have a great eye for detail. I am a perfectionist and most times im my own worst enemy because of it. I noticed something else on your shoulder mount that most taxidermists dont do although i like what you did with it.

cdavis I thought some of yall might enjoy seeing this. I just finished mounting one of my bow kills from last year. It’s called a pack out mount. I put it on a pack frame like you would pack one out from a remote area. 20210922_111256.jpg 20210922_111320.jpg

cdavis sprayed some type of clear coat or oil on the rack to make it glossy. Looks like perhaps a semi gloss

twilliams I always wipe every rack with furniture oil. It keeps them from drying out and looking dull. It needs to be done at least once a year.

bocephus I had to miss an early teal hunt here a few weeks ago, made me sad to cancel as the guys limited out in not time. But I am going on a big duck hunt on 12/4, that I am really looking forward to.

bocephus We get some cinnamons down here, it’s few and far between. Most of the teal we get are blue and green wingers.
