zbigjeff Thankfully she doesn’t dive into the dark water as often as I do, but in general I know now to keep a few bottles on hand.

ND Mike Yes, I was shocked to find the situation going on even in New Jersey one time when on assignment there, blew my mind as at the time, I thought it was only a SE Texas phenomena.

Found out that lairds applejack is brewed a county or two over from me here in New Jersey. Sparked my interest so I’ve been looking at different drinks to make with it. Tried this one out tonight. It’s called a Jack Rose. Apparently mentioned by Hemingway in his novel The Sun Also Rises. Fancy-like but tastes good.

Hemingway would know. Read that book, but way too long ago to remember.

Surg Got you some Laird, that’s a good one, especially this time of year. Cider has more than doubled in price this year & that is not one of the real good ones. But, the Sun Also Rises too.

Had a big hankerin for eggnog, added some Southern Comfort to it last night. Come to find out I’m not a huge SC fan as I used to be in my young lad days. So tonight I had some Baileys that is typically for my coffee. Well I got to say, this is a very nice pairing017974AF-3B60-490F-8D60-738AF54ADA3D.jpeg

We have a great historical park in town called Carrillon Park. They have a brewery constructed to make beer the old way as part of the parks living history and education. Last night the wife and I had dinner there and had a few beers, before walking the 65 acre park to look at Christmas lights. I had their Spruce Ale seasonal and man was it good. I forget the exact ABV, but it was about 8 to 9 %. It was brewed with real Spruce tips. I did not take pics of the beer I drank, but did take a few inside while they were brewing a Wit Beir. The big kid working in the white shirt is our youngest son.

calldoctoday will do, if your ever in Dayton, it is well worth the visit and I’ll buy you a beer. The park is also home to one of the Wright Brother’s original planes and the Wright Cycle shop. It also has a wing about the National Cash Register company (NCR), which has an amazing collection of the cash registers made here as well as many other great innovations from our neck of the woods.

So when you make and break 9 batches of Peanut Brittle, you have a nice amount of crumbs. We ussually keep them and sprinkle then on ice cream.
                                    20211216_232555.jpg
I had a thought, which can be dangerous at times. Why not use the crumbs in an Old Fashioned instead if sugar. After all, the crumbs are basically caramelized sugar with peanut essence.
