Midwest_kc Not at all. I research companies and their policies as well as look at who they support.
I’m sure that some sill evade me, but I do the best I can. Companies like Coke, Disney, Home Depot, … and the list goes one.
I try to spend wisely with companies that share my value system and avoid companies that support an agenda that disapprove of.
I never assume the worse. I just don’t assume people are of a like value system. I just like to be informed.
Chef Fair enough. Obviously larger companies there’s lots of info out there. I was thinking more along the lines of smaller, mom and pop places that you may come across while traveling, etc. It’s something that I don’t know how to find out, and wasn’t sure your strategy for these types of places.

My concern now is will I feel safe trying to visit some of these small mom and pop places though no fault of their own. I can’t imagine the stress these small operators are experiencing in crime ridden cities. There is a lot of great cuisine available in Chicago. Would I go there to eat, hell no!

Some of these were in questionable areas, but never had an issue. I now I wouldn’t go back to those areas, great folks and memories, too bad.

YooperDog It is sad. I feel the same way about small businesses in New Orleans. While I have such fond memories, I just can’t risk safety of my wife and family. I have to be content with the memories.

Chef When we stop by “local” places and see signs like “law enforcement not welcome”, “No MAGA people may enter” and other "exclusionary statements. They are just a place I don’t want to support and have turned around many times. Like you said: I support until I see their mindset in front of my eyes. Those type of people don’t deserve my dollars. Period. There’s only been five in the last 2 years. The vast majority of small businesses are NOT sooo stupid to exclude.

zbigjeff I don’t understand why anyone would want to exclude a group of people, if I had a business I would want everyone to feel welcome.

marzig20 As much as the “current” mentality tries to squelch what “momma said” decades ago, they can’t erase good old common sense.

zbigjeff Well said. There are those who just don’t think the way I do. So be it. Anyone that excludes law enforcement would not have my business.
