GWG8541 thanks. Smoke pole season ends tomorrow so I took the night off of work tonight. When my son started hunting at age 10, I build a heated stand . Makes it alot easier sitting then the old days when i would sit in a foxhole with a wool blanket . I must be getting old…or smarter

kyle I hear ya, I don’t sit unless it’s in my permanent shack or a pop up with heat. It’s a difference of getting cold in 3 hours and leaving or sitting sun up to sun down. A lot of people say that’s not hunting but in the end when I can sit out there from sun up to sun down not having to move or go get lunch I’m spending more hours in the woods compared to other folks. To each their own style of hunting. I have seen and shot way more deer with this method. I am looking at buying two more permanents this year for my other property. Here is the one I built a few years back. I just blacked out the inside and window framing is blacked out now too since this pic. 14D18738-6845-4092-B573-AC4B167E30D0.jpeg C6FC069C-B7E8-4D66-B1A7-602083B4308B.jpeg
September-middle November bow hunting I will sit in a treestand

twilliams we sit mostly now too. My brother built two blinds but this year was too nice to put them out. We just sat outside all day in some brush. The last day was a bit cold at 15 degrees with 20 mph wind but it was doable. Was able to stay out till dark.

Here is why the number of deer are down in north Wi. My son took this pic on sun of opening weekend . I cant even tell you how many hours I have sat between bow, gun and now muzzle loader to see only 5 deer . I’m sitting in the stand right now with the smoke pole hoping the fresh snow and below zero temps get them moving.

kyle I think northern MN is having the same problem. I’ve seen 3 wolves in the BWCA in northern MN.

Yep. I hear that. I guess when I referred to all the extra tags and I seen 5 deer all season. Kinda weird. We hunt the central farmland zone. More coyotes around this area.

ND Mike Yeah states will regret reintroducing wolves without a plan on how to control it quick enough. In Idaho their wildlife management shoots them out of helicopters, even though you can get tags to hunt them. They are super smart animals.

HerbcoFood we have had 2 seasons so far in wi. This spring over 200 were shot in less than 2 days. By law we have to have a season , but it keeps getting messed up in the courts. Long story but if your ever bored, Google it

kyle Hunt smarter not, harder (or colder).
You can’t hunt if you can’t stay in the field. Your odds of success just keep going up the longer you can stay out.

We don’t have wolves where I live but we’re thick with coyotes. My 9lb poodle never goes out unless I have a leash on her. Some of my neighbors have had their pets come up missing. Pretty sure coyotes were involved. Feral hogs are in southern Illinois and are rapidly moving north too.
