Not a bad day to start the season. One son caught a buck and doe, another took a buck with one side busted. Would like to see the one he fought with. Another buck took late afternoon but no pic.
Pretty typical of what we see around here. I let a small four point go. Maybe next year.

Man I had a great opening morning but now I’m sad. I’m tagged out on bucks and I’m tired. I hope everyone had as good of an opening day as I had. Good luck to everyone and be safe

I was able to take Saturday and Sunday off to go deer hunting. I only had a doe tag but I’m very picky with does. I have passed on many this year. I have also gotten a bit soft hearted as I’ve gotten older. I won’t harvest a doe that has fawns with her anymore. Today I shot one but the bad thing is she was 1.5 miles from the truck in a spot where you have to drag them out. Sleep will come easy tonight and Thank God for a good game cart! It was windy as all get out today too. 15 degrees with 27 mph winds.

I was able to take Saturday and Sunday off to go deer hunting. I only had a doe tag but I’m very picky with does. I have passed on many this year. I have also gotten a bit soft hearted as I’ve gotten older. I won’t harvest a doe that has fawns with her anymore. Today I shot one but the bad thing is she was 1.5 miles from the truck in a spot where you have to drag them out. Sleep will come easy tonight and Thank God for a good game cart! ND Mike nice harvest and I’ll bet that cart was worth every penny you paid for it. I can’t force myself to harvest a doe with a fawn. Good job man. Hope you get a buck tag next year.

cdavis yeah this pasture is pretty much all brush. There are some deeper cuts on the far east end that have some trees but it is mostly brush clumps.
