processhead 47F here this morning, agreed feels very much like fall and is fitting considering it has officially started today. I’ve been checking cameras, nothing worth getting too excited about yet. Going to sit tight for a couple of weeks before hitting it harder.

Got busted by this spooky doe this evening. She winded my trail where I walked into my stand and went on high-alert stamping and milling around. No way I was going to draw on her so I took a couple pictures instead.

RafterW they run the deer off here. Sometimes the deer won’t come back for a couple of days after the hogs are gone.

cdavis It also funny to watch when pigs come out you can see the deer watching from the brush and then once the pigs finish the deer walk out immediately.

I had a doe tag. The problem is when the deer 15 yards from you and on alert, do you want to get busted while drawing your bow and educate her even more or risk wounding a moving deer?

I seldom will draw my bow and take a shot at deer staring right at me and on-alert, but will wait for them to put there head down or look the other direction.

For me, its enough of a challenge to make a clean, ethical archery shot on a deer that is not on-alert.

I do like to get the smart old does out of the herd when ever the opportunity presents itself. Smart does teach wariness to their clueless fawns!

Most of the above doesn’t apply when rifle hunting.

RafterW wow those are a couple of studs. I would say he’s an overachiever when it comes to droptines. Congrats to both of them.
