GWG8541 that’s some great insight. Didn’t know Dankel was down the road fn Lynchburg. Jack is a one of a kind tour Enjoyed the back roads fm Nashville to there. Our tour guide’s Father owned a pig farm when she was a teen. He would feed the pigs the used Jack mash. Happiest pigs in the area

JoeB I believe her name was Marlene. Its been awhile, but I had her on my first tour. If you ever back there and haven’t done it, grab lunch at Mary Bobo’s Boarding House. Its a family style set down and a host sits with you and gives a living history of the town of Lynchburg. I had been to Lynchburg several times, but had never had lunch there. Glad I did.

GWG8541 doing a MH road trip in a few days thru GA, WV to Buffalo NY. Thanks, sounds like a fun stop for lunch. When I go into Canada they sell the (real) 3ltr and 5ltr bottles of Jack. Usually pick up a case. Thanks for the info. Did stay in Cookietown a few week on business. Smokies along 40. Magnificent

JoeB I’ve collected a few things from Jack. This is my favorite. Its a 150th Anniversary barrel signed by the Master Distiller.

Surg like JOE B has mentioned there are some great places to visit there. You’ll have a full weekend trip. If you plan on renting a car and want to hit the outlying places its a nice option vs taking a taxi and staying strictly downtown. Acme Feed and Seed has good food at a decent price and live acts. There are different levels to the building. You cannot throw a rock without hitting an expiring singer near Broadway. There are a lot of great places to eat and drink. I drove the last trip. I don’t like the hustle and bustle of downtown and stayed at a Hampton Inn near Vanderbilt and used Uber to get in to the Broadway area at night. I believe it was about a 10 to 15 minute drive. If you have time and a car, the Jack Daniels distillery is a few hours south of town. If not this trip, its worth a visit if you are in that part of Tennessee. Dickel’s distillery is about 15 miles from Jack. We hit the Ryman Auditorium for a show the December before Covid, which is where the Grand Ole Opry does the shows in the winter. I believe they do Ryman (The Mother Church) tours in the summer. If you like Country music history, its a great place to visit. If you go to the Grand Old Opry for a show it will be at the big Opry north if town. The Gaylord Opryland Hotel is something to see, especially at Christmas. I’ve never stayed there, but we walked through and its a small city and awesome at Christmas time. I hope you have a great trip.
GWG8541 awesome! Thanks for the input. Really looking forward to the trip. From what I’ve heard TN is great so I’m sure I’ll be back there again after this trip. Would definitely like to squeeze in a trip to the Jack distillery if I can.

JoeB that should be a great trip. Its funny how it takes a trip out of country to get the large bottles. Im heading back to Gatlinburg this fall for a long weekend with the wife. We are staying at the Buckhorn Inn which is the oldest hotel/lodging in Sevier County. Hoping to catch some color during the fall change.

GWG8541 that’s sounds like a well planned event. Take some pics. Ya the feds max bottle in the USA is 1.75ltrs. No such restriction in Canadian. They even sell a 10ltr Crown Royal. With exchange a 3ltr of Jack is about $40 us currency

JoeB It definitely would be a talking piece. A person can truly say they actually “worked out” after pouring a couple cocktails from a bottle of that size.
-
JoeB man I would love to grab one. It would definitely look good with the collection

Pivodog understand. All ports closed TFT. Not a happy camper. Even renewed passports have slowed down 18wks + Turn around 🥲

JoeB I just need to make the 3 1/2 hour trip north and pick one up. I haven’t been to Canada in about 12 years.
