<![CDATA[Fresh Vac & mylar bags]]>Jonathon How well does the Walton’s Fresh Vac handle maylar vac seal bags? I am referring to the ones typically used for freeze dried products. I have read that the mylar bags need a higher heat, but figured this little guy would work great.

A little research would seem to indicate that a lot of people do though, and that they can be vacuum sealed.
The key advantages of mylar bags are that they are stronger and and less porous than regular plastic bags, so for long term storage, they let less oxygen pass through.

I looked on Amazon at some bags and the ones I looked at said in the description they could be sealed with a vac sealer. The bags would need to be textured on the inside like normal non-chambered bags to pull a vacuum I would think. Why are you wanting to use mylar bags?

The next question how will the handle the heat? Only one way to find out give them a try.
