A leader in lab grown cultured meat technology, MeaTech3D of Israel has begun research and development of porine cell lines. This research could lead to MeaTech to becoming the first publicly traded cultured meat company in the world.

USDA to invest $500M to expand processing capacity

The United State Department of Agriculture announced that it will invest $500 million for process capacity expansion for meat and poultry. Part of the American Rescue Plan will be a $150 million to small processing facilities to expand.

Kentucky processor opens new USDA facility

Porter Road Butcher Meat Co. opened a USDA-approved 28,000 square foot facility in Princeton, Ken. The expansion will create 83 new jobs with an average wage of $19.46/hour.

Global meat prices rose in May as overall food costs fell

Overall food prices fell in June after a year of steady increase, however meat still saw a 2.1 % increase since May. The meat price index of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations based in Rome rose for the ninth straight month.
