I read a lot of differing opinions on feeding a dog turkey and duck necks. Some seem to say it is no problem at all and others say the bones can cause issues in their intestines. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Simmer or slow smoke them necks up & make a good gravy or freeze them & keep them for your next bone broth when you get enough carcass. The meat is delicious, some of the best.

They both are/were aggressive chewers and would chew large beef bones into dust and consume it all. While perhaps not hazardous as in sharp, I just didn’t want all that undigestible stuff in their guts.
Poultry neck bones are a little different than other bones in that they are relatively small and smooth. They would probably be the least hazardous part you could feed to a pet, particularly when they are cooked.

I also was reading where large bones from cooked meat shatter and can choke a dog or perforate their stomach or bowel. I used to give my dogs the bones from cooked pork butts all the time until I actually watched one shatter into very sharp small shards. I then realized that the article I read made sense and quit giving my dogs bones.

I just don’t risk any bones. My brother-in-law used to let his dogs chew on the leg bones of deer and had no problems, I just don’t think it is worth the risk.

They are often odd shaped as well and can lodge in their throats if not chewed well. Domesticated animals don’t chew their food like wild counterparts. When food makers use them they grind them pretty fine. I pick all the meat off the bones after I boil them and give mine the meat and broth only. It’s a lot of work, but I rather not pay the vet bill.
