Does a grinder with a stuffer attachment work as well for stuffing as a stuffer itself. Thanks for the help.

I have a third party attachment for my Kitchenaid grinder (Smokehouse Chef). It’s more robust than the KA branded attachment, but I’ll still use it only for something probably 3 pounds or less (maybe even 2 pounds or less). For anything more, I may as well haul out the #12. It’s hardly any more trouble to set up or clean up, and it leaves no more in the augur.

I don’t feel that it is built to do the job for the long haul. I have actually rebuilt my motor and gears because of the grinder attachment. The gears are the weak link. My oldest grinder has done over 1000+ lbs and with no issues. Keep an eye for a good deal on a grinder and stuffer, you will be happier in the long run.

I thought if I do more grinding I would up the grinder and also use it for stuffing. I was thinking it might get too much air in the grinder with stuffing. Thanks for all the insight!

I have a stuffer, but have found that some new meat grinders can also be used to stuff sausages. My new grinder works so much better than the KitchenAid attachment approach; it is a great, and fast grinder. I grind and stuff by myself so I also bought a foot control switch that lets me stuff pretty quickly and well without getting out my devoted stuffer.

I didn’t think that I wanted a stuffer when I started making sausage. Then, after a few batches stuffing with a grinder, I changed my mind. It was so much better to use. I thought I’d died and gone to Heaven.

While the grinder stuffer attachment works okay a separate stuffer works a lot better and saves time and frustration. You will end up with a better product.

I had a Kitchen Aid attachment that I used for years. Then I got a Cabelas Carnivore Grinder and Waltons 10# Stuffer. Omg what was I thinking for all those years. These tools make life way easier with less troubles and aggravation. So there you have it.
