We do not want to purchase a stuffer. So we either need to find a grinder we can stuff chubs directly out of, or we will just end up putting the beef in a bread pan and then flipping it onto butcher paper and wrapping…

I’ll second that on the butcher 22. It’s a beast.

It comes with a stuffer auger and tube, the auger is key! I’ve also learned that putting the grinding head into the freezer the day before, this will keep it cold. This is a good grinder/stuffer combo that works great for small batches. Invest in a good grinder like that and you’ll be off to a good start!

Then, I used one, and I thought I’d died and gone to sausage making heaven.

Stuffing from a grinder might be okay for a pound or two, but it’s the pits for anything more than that.

I just started keeping an eye open when I travel to check shops. Some is worn out, some repaired, some best left on a shelf.

The grinder will create a bit more heat with all the moving parts and will take a bit more time. I used to stuff sausages and bags with my grinder but now use a stuffer, creates a better product and saves time. Keep an eye out for a used one or a good deal.
