I have never eaten them before but plan on it soon! They turn pretty quickly so I’ll need to act fast.

I let them go until they covered everything in spores and melted away in hopes that they would come back this year. I still have stains on the outside wall of my garage from them. It worked out well as they are starting to pop up everywhere. These shots were from yesterday. There was a lot more breaking through today.

Does anyone have any recipes to share?

I was describing them last night to someone as the Pac-Man ghosts. I can just barely remember the brain bubble things. I might have to download that game to my Nintendo.

Most of my experience is with morels. These do great prepared the same way as others but timing is key

You are correct…no need to over think it. They don’t need much. Jonathon pointed out that they look like Calamari…I’m sure that a battered and fried version would be a fantastic vegetarian alternative!

I sliced thin and pan fried in the leftover butter and burger grease from the burger I had earlier today. I added a pinch of salt and fresh ground pepper and it was perfect.
